Berkeley Carteret Hotel, Asbury Park, New Jersey Circa 1925 Dinner Plate with deer logo in center measures 10.75" diameter and is marked on the back that it was made by Scammell's Lamberton China for the Berkeley Carteret Hotel. This plate is featured on the restaurant ware collectors site which describes the hotel and this beautiful plate as follows: The Berkeley Carteret Hotel is an eight-story, 400-room hotel which opened July 1, 1925 in Asbury Park, New Jersey. It was closed during WWII and used by the British Navy. The hotel was renovated in the early 1950's and a pool and Cabana Club were added. It was closed for most of the 1980's, changed ownership several times, and in 1985 had a $20 million renovation. The Berkeley-Carteret Hotel underwent another major renovation circa 2007 and reopened for business with 250 rooms. It is now known as the The Berkeley Ocean Front Hotel, a vestige of Asbury Park's heyday as an oceanfront resort. The dinner plate is made by Lamberton China has a white body, intricate border treatment consisting of gold band and lines, wide blue band with gold colored scrolls, acanthus leaves and baskets of flowers and fruit. Inner band of white vines on blue. Logo in well three-section crest with yellow blocks, acanthus leaves, blue helmet above with a brown squirrel atop. Winged deer on either side of crest, banner below with Loyal Devoir Anno 1664. Excellent used condition with no chips or cracks.
