Description

1927 Ford T-Bucket Pickup

Few cars are as basic, as elemental, as the Model T. Henry Ford's horseless carriage for the masses was never meant to be fancy or flashy, just fundamental and functional. The same holds true for Model T-based hot rods-they seem to work best as stripped-down, bare-bones speed machines. To lavish such cars with conveniences like air conditioning, power steering, and cruise control is to go against their very nature. Thx to Damon Lee Hot Rod Mag.

For consignment, Norm Grabowski would be proud of this creation from a 1927 Ford T Bucket pickup. Open engine compartment, wonderful 1927 design for the convertible top, and a truck bed to boot. Side pipes and some tasteful chroming in just the right spots in just the right amount, and we have a showpiece right here in our hallowed halls. A star of the H.A.M.B, (Hokey Ass Message Board for those out of the know), world and the definition of a jalopy in a white tuxedo!

Exterior
As stripped down hot rods go this one is adorned with many things usually forgotten about for a build as such, however this car includes these add ons, a steel tub, fenders, convertible top, bed tonneau cover, wood bed side panels and a custom rear bumper. It's all looking great with its white paint and maroon accenting for the headlight casings, front glass frame, and cowl air intake vent flap. The brass Ford badged radiator sits on its own upfront and sports a winged temp glass tube gage radiator cap and shiny metal mech radiator front material. Next is the open mill and white painted cowl, bucket and wood paneled bedsides. On the way we noticed a like new convertible top in black canvas and a black tonneau cover for the bed. This all-steel bed has a red carpet lining it and a wood stretcher to help keep the tonneau covering tight. On the back is a custom fabricated chromed bumper, a single taillight on either side and rolled steel bed edge tops. 15-inch polished Centerline wheels with white fenders framing their tops and 24x5.00R15's in front and 29x15.00R15's on back wrapped in 2020 new rubber. The H.A.M.B. network is cooking now!

Interior
Inside a nearly vertical steering column is topped with a small rally wheel which fronts a wonderful warm stained oak dash. This dash has a horizontal lineup of chromed bezeled round gauges, large and small, and these are in a horizontal ribbed elongated oval panel. In the center of the floor is a chromed B&M shifter in a plastic panel which sits right in front of a long red tuck and roll stitched broadcloth bench stretching from door to door. These doors are also covered in red broadcloth as are all the side panels. The floors also have deep red carpeting, all looking good.

Drivetrain
A blingy 327ci V8 with a Jackson gear drive, topped with not one, but TWO 500cfm Edelbrock 4-barrel carbs. On the back a TH350 3-speed automatic throws power to a Ford 9-inch rear axle. Shiny Jet Hot headers snake together to form a single side pipe for each side. Red 12-volt wiring is all over this engine, as are braided stainless hoses and quality anodized fittings. I'm glad this mill is NOT covered!

Undercarriage
Good solid framing supports transverse leaf springs and disc brakes in front, and ladder bars with coil overs and drum braking in back.

Drive-Ability
She fires right up and did well on our test track. I put on the left and right door side covers with plastic windows for this cold December test drive. All was well working beautifully and looking very T bucket pickup like! Eat your heart out Norm Grabowski.

What's the matter with the car I'm driving? "Can't you tell that it's out of style?"
Should I get a set of white wall tires? "Are you gonna cruise the miracle mile?
Nowadays you can't be too sentimental. Your best bet's a true Henry Bucket."
Hot funk, cool punk, even if it's old junk It's still rock and roll to me! Billy Joel (altered slightly!)
