1971 Chevrolet Corvette SPECTACULAR #S MATCHING LS5 454ci CORVETTE COUPE

Ok, I think we have your attention if you are still reading and starring at the first 7 images of this beautiful 1971 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe LS5 454.

The first thing I look for in a vintage Corvette is its exterior condition. It is easy to spot poor body work and previous damage history if you have been in the business for 33 years like I have. The first thing I do is a 10-20 foot spin around the car looking for mismatched panels and reflections that show poor workmanship. First arrival on this Corvette, well, you will see that you get to see exactly the same views I did of each beautiful panel and overall views of the entire car front to back and side to side. Body and panels on this car are exceptional. There's no evidence of prior major fiberglass repair anywhere and all seems are factory correct. The paint finish is absolutely beautiful and cut perfectly. Paint work was done a while ago so there are some faint scratches that no one but a paint guy would pick up. The blemishes are extremely fine and aside from one deep scratch on the passenger's door, none are seen without extreme measures to detect. Glass is all great. Wheels, tires are great. Trim rings are not perfect but they are original. The chrome bumpers both front and rear are perfect. I can only imagine they have been re-chromed or are new. The overall appearance is exceptional, just not concours perfect.

Let's stare at some more images again...No! The model does no come with the car, but the pictures of her with the car do. So, don't be that guy and look stupid asking. She just likes muscle cars like you do.

When you open the doors to this 1971 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe LS5 454, you will instantly see that it looks incredibly clean inside and it's all original. Door panels, dash, rear paneling and console are all in exceptional condition and appear to be original as well. The leather seat also are original and in exceptional condition. The carpet is also in great shape too. It does not appear to have been restored, but it shows in excellent condition overall. .

The components found in the interior function as well. All gauges work, the radio works and the lights all work that we could see. Air conditioning was also redone recently too. The only non-functional item we found was the windshield wiper switch and the fiber optics.

Vehicle Written Assessment

This 1971 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe LS5 454 comes with little documentation other than the original Owner's Manual. Our seller told us he had lots of receipts for the engine rebuild and suspension restoration work, but when we showed up to buy the car, he told us that he would have to track it down to find it. Don't know if it will ever turn up but the evidence of what he claimed was in front of me in the condition and functionality of the Corvette.

The drivetrain on this 1971 Cheverolet Corvette Coupe LS5 454 looks and performs exceptional. Starts right up and drives like it rolled out of the factory just a few years ago instead of 50 years ago. It's just crazy to look at this car and drive it and not feel like you have been transported back in time to 1971. I bought it in Twinn Falls, Idaho and drove it to Salt Lake, Utah then drove it several places here in Las Vegas. The day I took the pictures of the car, the power steering pump and pulley started to make a noise. The power steering rack below was all new, but the pulley on the pump must have broke and I ended up replacing the full power steering pump and pulley. Starting the car on cold days takes a minute for the car to warm up, but that's just a minute. The car drives, runs and shifts excellent. The engine was fully rebuilt less than a few thousand miles ago. I would not hesitate to drive the Corvette on a long trip.

The body, the frame and the Interior show very well. Headlights work, the driver's and passenger's doors open and shut to factory specification. The power windows work, although when the doors are closed, the rubber seals slow them down. I did notice that there is not a spare tire, jack or tools in the car. The is absolutely no rust on the frame either.

This Corvette Big Block comes with some great options too. The chrome luggage rack, leather interior, deluxe interior with the wood grain doors, power windows, tilt telescopic steering wheel, power brakes, power steering, t-top bags, car cover and air conditioning. All options for this year…along with the 454 LS5 and the automatic transmission.

Overall Assessment

This 1971 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe LS5 454 is a fine example of very original investment quality Corvette. Not Concours, but definitely a Corvette that would be appreciated and any local car show and seen for its high quality finish, fit and original condition. This Corvette is a show car for sure, just not for judging purposes.

Documented Known History

No documentation of history comes with this car. 

We sold this car on December 9, 2021 to our client in Edna, Tx. He installed the original Dual Snorkel air cleaner on the car and put less than 75 miles on it since. He called me the other day and told me that he loves the car, but needs the investment elsewhere in his portfolio. So here it is back on the market. Our client is a serious car collector with a large collection. The vehicle is in the exact condition seen in our pictures, nothing has changed other than the original style air cleaner. The process will be handled through our dealership as we still have the clean title in hand, the car will ship from or could be picked up in Edna, Texas when the transaction is completed.  We will be happy to release our buyer's information to the winning bidder or the buyer with an offer that is accepted and completed. I provide detailed views of the interior, under the hood and then put it on a lift to show the undercarriage and confirm that the beauty of the car you are considering is not merely skin deep. Even our detailers are enthusiastic about the cars they meticulously clean. Reconditioning can sometimes take several days as we do all that we can within reason to get our vehicles in tip top condition visually and cosmetically. We do Way more than just a cheap detail. Our details are more like refurbishing to as close to new as we can possibly get our vehicles.

Usually, I'll also include a high definition video that shows the car doing its thing. If it's a fast car, we film it going fast. If it's a 4x4 you'll see it crawling up a hill. In every case you will hear things like a rumbling exhaust, working sound system and watch gauges operation as well.

No “dealer,” on-line or in the real world, takes it to this level. No other seller or organization provides you, the buyer, with so much information.
