We sell a lot of El Caminos here at Streetside Classics, but not many come through our doors that are as beautifully finished and highly functional as this 1972 Chevrolet El Camino. A real head-turner with a killer two-tone custom paint job, this dialed-in Elky features impressive 383 Stroker V8 power, choice options, and a comfortable interior that all work together to form one of the coolest car-trucks we've ever had the pleasure of showcasing in our inventory.

The early 1970s were the final years of 'The Golden Era of American Motoring', and that instantly recognizable muscle car style still makes a fantastic foundation for something awesome today, as this 1972 El Camino proves. Repainted during a fairly comprehensive restoration that was completed not long ago, it manages to maintain its 1970s utilitarian look, but with the addition of a modern and sleek vibe that really works well. The two-tone Gulf Green Metallic over Silver paint really updates the shape and makes it look a bit more modern, and with the addition of those Rally stripes on the hood, this truck will attract attention no matter where you drive it. The bodywork underneath was clearly in good shape, because the flanks are smooth and shiny and everything fits together better than you'd expect for 1972, with a few custom touches like a cowl hood, HID headlamps, and that black tonneau cover on the bed that all put this Chevy over the top. Sure the paint's not perfect, but only the most obnoxious of nudges is going to find much to complain about it, and the curb appeal is undeniable. Chrome bumpers fore and aft add the perfect amount of endcap bling, and that horizontal bar grille is an instantly recognizable a staple of the Elky and Chevelles from the early '70s. The inside of the bed is also neatly finished, but don't expect some cheap spray-in bedliner. No, this hauler was finished to the same level as the rest of the body, so you'll definitely think twice before you load up dirty stuff from the junkyard. Although if you do want to use it like a truck, it's got the ingredients needed to haul away half of Home Depot with you.

It's very common to see a bench seat in an El Camino, and the interior of this restomod really does a great job continuing the tradition, although with a lot more style. Finished in original Covert Tan, the bench seat and door panels were recovered in correct reproduction materials that look great today, and they provide all-day comfort thanks to solid yet supple insulation underneath the hides. The light brown dash is probably original to the car, and amazingly it's crack-free and without any fading or discoloration, whereas the plush black carpets were likely replaced during this Elky's restoration. Inside the original-style dash are neatly integrated Dakota Digital gauges set into the factory panel, and the effect is that it looks almost stock but delivers a high-tech view of the engine's vitals. Options include an upgraded aftermarket A/C system (although it requires service to blow cold again), a leather-wrapped billet steering wheel atop the stock column, and a modern JVC AM/FM/CD/AUX head unit that power tunes through a set of upgraded speakers in the kick panels. Comfortable and straight to the point, this cabin is an easy place in which to spend some time.

Mechanically, this Elky has been extensively upgraded. The wheezing smog motor is gone, replaced by a strong-running 383 V8 Stroker motor built by Smedling Performance, coming in at a reported 450 horsepower rating. Topped by a big 4-barrel carburetor, a polished Edelbrock intake, and HEI ignition, the motor's running great, and it looks even better adorned with chrome valve covers and a matching chrome Chevrolet air cleaner. Underneath, there's a smooth-shifting 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission that adds an overdrive gear and spins a heavy-duty 12-bolt rear end with a beefy aftermarket cover, so it's comfortable on the highway but still flies off the line. The suspension is fitted with QA1 control arms, coilovers, ladder bars, and sway bars that help set the stance and massively improve the Elky's handles, and with power steering and power front disc brakes the ride experience is smooth and easy. A rumbling H-pipe Flowmaster dual exhaust system sounds just right for a vehicle that looks like this, exiting just beyond the rear wheels for a cool look. Blacked-out Ridler wheels with chrome lips finish the performance look and they carry 245/40/18 front and 275/35/18 rear Nitto performance radials with a lot of life left in them.

Extensively documented with its original Protect-O-Plate warranty card, factory buildsheet, owner's manuals, and several build receipts, this Elky has a lot of tricks up its sleeves. Great looking and fun to drive, this is an slick-built machine that's always going to stand out. Call now!

General Terms

Terms & Conditions

We recognize the need for complete transparency when buying/selling vehicles on eBay. That said, we did not build, modify, or have the luxury of personal ownership that would give us the advantage of knowing all unknown aspects of each vehicle. Transparency is king and we're happy to try and answer ALL questions our customers might have prior to purchasing. Additionally, we welcome and encourage independent inspections (see Inspection statement below).

FEES: A documentation fee of $299 will be added to the purchase price at the time of sale. Sale price does not include any Title, License, Registration, State or Local Taxes or Processing Fees. We recommend you familiarize yourself with your individual state's taxes, transfer, or additional fees.

AVAILABILITY: Please inquire prior to purchase to assure any advertised vehicle is not already sold. We advertise across multiple platforms where a vehicle can sell in a moment's notice. Vehicles may be sold prior to eBay listing end, and we reserve the right to end listings early or to cancel bids/offers solely at our discretion and shall not be held liable for any such cancellation.

CONTACT: Note that you may hear from us after to the sale, but if you are a winning bidder, click a Buy-It-Now, or we accept your eBay Offer, it is your responsibility to contact us within 24 hours.

INSPECTION: VERY IMPORTANT. If a buyer chooses to buy sight unseen (many of our buyers choose this option) the buyer accepts the vehicle AS-IS and understands we cannot address concerns post sale. For this reason, it's important all concerns are addressed prior to purchase. We make every effort to present accurate and reliable information, but use of this information is voluntary, and should only be deemed reliable after an independent review of its accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. It is the sole responsibility of the customer/buyer to verify the existence of options, accessories and the vehicle condition before time of sale.

PAYMENT: We require a non-refundable $500 deposit within 48 hours of winning or commitment to purchase. Full payment is required within 7 days of offer acceptance unless other arrangements are agreed to in writing. If deposit and/or full payment are not provided within said timeframe, all vehicles will be relisted and transaction will be considered void. For balance of payment we will accept bank wire transfer (preferred), cashier's check, or personal check (vehicle shipment will be delayed until check clears). We also offer vehicle financing, please inquire for details prior to making bids/offers. SHIPPING: We have access to a network of private and commercial carriers. Most of them can deliver the vehicle to your driveway and upon your schedule. We assume no responsibility for damages or delays incurred once a vehicle is in a shipper's custody. Buyers are welcomed to trailer vehicles home and we are happy to have everything ready to see you off with your new vehicle.

DRIVE IT HOME: If you plan to buy and drive home, please keep some things in mind. Anything is possible when it comes to a vehicle, especially a classic or antique one. We recommend transporting all vehicles to your home first, then driving it locally. Get to know the vehicle and its tendencies before embarking on a long-distance trip. If you choose to drive your new vehicle home, buyer accepts all responsibility as we are unable to control what may take place once it leaves our facility.

DOCUMENTS & VEHICLE TITLE: All purchase documents are sent immediately upon purchase. To avoid delays, we recommend returning any required documents within 24 hours of receipt. Please allow up to 30 days for vehicle titles. Usually titles are available sooner, we ask for the extra time in the event there are unforeseen circumstances.

VIN VERIFICATION: We photograph the primary VIN location of every vehicle and make sure that VIN exactly matches the vehicle's current title. Buyer agrees to hold seller harmless from any disputes arising from other hidden or secondary VINs present on the vehicle as seller only verifies the primary VIN location. If needed, it is the buyer's sole responsibility to verify secondary VIN locations their specific state may inspect, prior to purchase.

MILEAGES: Occasionally our vehicles may be driven or simply moved around our facilities. Slight differences may occur so we recommend you confirm actual and current miles prior to purchase.

CONDITION: We cover the obvious and do our best to describe our vehicles in detail. Even so, please have a transparent conversation with us before purchasing. Do be aware that all pre-owned vehicles, regardless of age, mileage, or manufacturer are subject to cosmetic wear and mechanical failure. Finally, be advised that although our sales associates are here to assist you with your purchase, they are not trained or certified vehicle inspectors.

AS-IS: All vehicles are sold "AS IS" and with no warranties expressed or implied. If you choose to waive inspection, do plan to have a detailed and transparent conversation with us regarding the vehicle's condition. Ask the hard questions up front. Please just call us, we are here to help and welcome all your questions!

Information is provided to the best of our knowledge and we make no warranty or representation regarding the accuracy, truth, or reliability of such information. We cannot be responsible for any errors, omissions, or inaccuracies contained in information provided by the consignor/seller of the vehicle.
