1956 Packard Patrician

I will be listing a few cars here in the next week or two for my family.  We are reducing are number of cars, so please see my other listings as well.  I am not a dealer.

"Discover for yourself...nothing on earth rides like a Packard!"

The 1956 Packard is one of the most beautiful and elegant cars of the mid 1950s.  It is also the very last year that these elegant cars would be manufactured/engineered by the Packard Plant in Michigan.  This car is beautifully styled and very well engineered for its time.  Everywhere you look there is something nice to look at...beautiful colors, trim, lines, hood ornament - it's quite a work a art!  It can also handle today's modern roads and speeds, thanks to the power of the 374ci V8 engine and the Ultra-Matic Transmission, which was the most modern automatic transmission of its day.

This Packard was owned by a fellow enthusiast for many years before my parents acquired it.  It is a very nice lower mileage original survivor type that has not been totally restored.  It was serviced, repaired as needed, at some point re-painted, kept indoors, and lovingly cared for.  This car will be a treasure for your family to own for years to come and a great long term investment too.  Only 3,375 of these were ever made!  Very rare car to see around today.

The original engine runs great and has very good power for a car of this year.  The transmission shifts and operates well.  It has a working speedometer, volt gauge, temperature gauge, headlights, directional signals and rear running lights.  The car runs and starts exceptionally well, and with the PS and PB, it will be very easy for anyone to drive.  The Ultra-Matic Transmission has an early type of overdrive in the form of a lock up converter when driven in high gear.  This helps the car cruise at higher speeds, yet still has a passing gear when you need it.  The push-button gear selector has all working buttons (with a recently rebuilt shift motor by someone who is an expert at those).  The power windows will operate going down, however, the passenger rear needs help up, the driver's window is cracked (original replacement included with the car), and the master switch needs some new factory type mounting clips.  The power brake unit has been rebuilt.  The car still could use a little tinkering from the next owner, or we have a family friend here who owns a shop, and I would be willing to have something done here for the next owner.  The left side of the dash lights are not working properly, it will need a new factory type brake light switch, the gas gauge doesn't work (I have a NOS replacement that will be included with the car), factory radio, horn, and clock are not working (fuse likely).  Wipers do work, but are slower vacuum type.  The car also needs a fresh set of a-arm bushings installed (which I have a new set that will be included with the car).  The tires have less than 100 miles on them and the hubcaps were recently painted/detailed.

The car looks very nice inside and out.  The exterior paint is older with flaws, scratches, and chips that have been touched up, but as you can see, it still shines up nicely with a fresh coat of wax.  I believe all of the chrome and stainless is original and unrestored, but looks great considering its age and originality.  The interior is also very nice unrestored original and is surprisingly decent for a 66 year old car.  The car has a beautiful original steering wheel and dash.  Engine bay and trunk are both clean and tidy.  Underneath the car looks good and solid as you would expect.  While this isn't a "high level" point judged type Packard, and could still use a little TLC from the next owner, I think it's a good looking car and will serve the next owner well.

Please see the photos and ask whatever questions you might have.  I do have a video of the car running that I can send by request.

I reserve the right to end the listing early at any time for the right offer.  The car could be for sale locally as well.
