"You can't get a better overall performance car. I'd be hard-pressed to find a better car, for the money, than the Vette. It's just an incredible automobile." – Tony DeLorenzo, Motor Trend road-test reviewer, June 1972

The Motorious website described the early-Seventies C3 'Vettes: "The differences between the 1971 and the 1972 Stingray are minimal. Corvettes 1971 model was the last model to feature fiber-optic warning lights while the 1972 Stingray was the first to have amber-colored front turn signals and a chrome egg-crate grill. The 1972 Stingray was also the last production year for chrome front and rear bumpers. Beyond these minor differences, the '71 and '72 models were basically the same. Both models were available in either a convertible coupe body style or a sports coupe body style. Many Stingray fans refer to the convertible as a roadster. However, with roll-up windows and windshield that is fixed, this model was a true convertible. When it comes to classic cars, the most beloved Corvette models that most folks enjoy and remember are the hidden-headlight Corvettes mainly due to their longevity on the Corvette and the sleekness and sexiness they produce for the vehicle! No other American-made classic car enjoys such a long, long history of uniqueness as does the Corvette."

Offered here in Classic White over tan is a 1972 Corvette Stingray Convertible. The car's odometer shows 39,957 miles, roughly just 800 miles per-year since new. The condition of the car for its age reflects responsible-owner care through the years.

The Classic White exterior paint is original; its condition is very good showing minor signs of aging, but no damage or significant surface-deterioration. In part, "Classic" reflects the fact that this shade dates to the first Corvette and was offered yearly since then. This 'Vette is equipped with a black fabric top as well as a body-color removable hardtop. Chrome bumpers (their final model year) are in good condition fore and aft; likewise the chrome windshield trim, chrome-accented fender louvers. (Side mirrors and door handles show wear.) The twin front eggcrate-style lower grilles are original, but only in good condition. Original-tint cabin glass, and lighting lenses-including on the pop-up headlights-are clear and undamaged. A factory-optioned chrome luggage rack is mounted on the rear deck. Factory badging-including crossed flags emblems on the hood and rear deck, "Stingray" script on the front fenders, and C-o-r-v-e-t-t-e lettering on the rear-is all properly located and mounted. Square, original dual-exhaust tips are in place, as is the lock for the theft-prevention system. Original silver-painted steel wheels with chrome center caps and trim rings are mounted with raised-white-letter Road Hugger® Radial G/T tires.

The car's interior is generally well maintained. Tan leather upholstery on the front bucket seats features an antiqued look. The leather is lightly creased and the driver's seat bolster has a split seam. Tan door panels include woodgrain upper trim and carpeted lower panels; crank handles operate the roll-up windows, and chrome door handles include the crossed-flags emblem. (The rear portions of the trim panel on both doors are damaged.) The factory steering wheel with crossed-flags emblem frames the large 160-mph speedometer and 5,300-rpm-redline tachometer. Engine monitor gauges occupy the center stack above the factory Delco® radio. The woodgrain-trimmed center console hosts the shifter for the automatic transmission, an engine data plate, and handbrake lever. Leather storage pockets face the passenger. In general, cabin surfaces show patina from age and normal wear.

Under the front-hinged hood, the stock 350-cubic-inch Chevy V8 is the center of a clean, but not overly detailed engine bay. A chrome cover adds flair to the stock, twin-induction air cleaner. Viewed from below, the car's chassis is clean, complete, and undamaged. In particular, there is no compression damage to any component in the full-length dual-exhaust system (as would be the case if the car had been subjected to overly aggressive driving styles or track use).

The car's factory identification and build tag remains riveted in place. '

While the more than 140 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '72 Corvette Convertible in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.

An open-air drive in a vintage Corvette on twisty roads during the fall-color season is a joy everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. For the next owner of this '72 Stingray, however, we're pretty sure once won't be nearly enough.

About Garage Kept Motors

Garage Kept Motors, LLC specializes in classic and specialty online auto sales.

For our consignors, we are the only auto brokers that offer a Transparent Sale Disclosure. This means, when a car sells, we provide an exact copy of the Bill of Sale. We do this so our clients know exactly who bought their car, where it went, and most importantly how much we sold it for. No funny business.

For our buyers, our vehicles are listed on the Internet, with over 100 photos, including undercarriage pictures, and walk-around videos of the vehicles running plus a narrative-style write-up of the cars history and features. Our international exposure allows us to sell cars across the globe, and we sell a majority of them out of state and overseas. We deliver honesty and consistency in our photos and descriptions, a “no surprise” approach, so buyers, both near and far, can invest with confidence sight unseen. We are not a gallery. Vehicles can be seen locally by appointment as potential buyers are given our undivided attention.
