Start Slideshow Stop Slideshow Next Image Previous Image The Buick Electra was a full-size premium automobile built by the Buick division of General Motors. The Electra name was used in numerous designations by Buick from 1959 to 1990.

Only a minor facelift with revised grille and taillight trim marked the 1970 Electra 225. The big news was under the hood. where a new 370-horsepower 455 cubic-inch V8 replaced the 430 V8 used from 1967 to 1969. This was the final year for the Electra convertible. finned aluminum brake drums and high compression engines. New this year was a concealed radio antenna. which amounted to two wires embedded in the windshield.

MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present the 1970 Buick Electra 225 Custom Convertible. This particular Buick was owned by Carol Channing who was a Broadway bombshell. famous for her role of Lorelei Lee in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and as Dolly Gallagher Levi in Hello. Dolly! This handsome convertible was her husband's baby. This is a true California convertible that they purchased from new! We had the opportunity to purchase this incredible time piece from Mrs. Channing during a recent trip to Palm Springs… and even get a photo with her in her beloved Electra. as seen below!

Finished in the original Bamboo Cream paint. the paint looks great and only shows a few minor imperfections. The body is in great condition and is solid. as a true California car should be. The black canvas convertible top compliments the paint and only shows minor imperfections and wear. The chrome bumpers show only minor imperfections and pitting but show well. Overall. this is a beautiful Electra that is a complete joy to drive!

Inside. the interior is finished in black vinyl and looks great. The front seats show minor wear on the seat bottom. which is typical of a 43 year old car. The rear seat is in excellent condition. as is the carpet. The door panels are also in great condition. The dashboard is all original. housing all of the original gauges and it is in awesome shape. This handsome Buick came equipped with power windows and a power convertible top.

Under the hood. you'll find the monstrous. Big Block 455 cubic inch V8 engine. casting number 1231738. that Buick was known for. Attached to the engine is a 3-speed TH-400 automatic transmission. This convertible does have power brakes. power steering and AC! The car sits upon a set of 15” Buick wheels wrapped in P225/75R15 tires.
