Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.5) based on 323 votes
One of the finest Bugeyes on the road. this happy little Healey is better than new and drives like it too. With an engine rebuild by Eric Jones Motorsports (ericjonesmotorsports. com) to 1323 cc. mild cam. ceramic-coated header and a 5-speed Datsun conversion. this Bugster is ready for show and go. And anywhere it goes. it brings out smiles. especially for the driver. While not restored to original. this was never the intent. Bugeye aficionados will spot the tasteful choices made by the owner inside. outside. and under the forward-tilting hood (with a custom. interior hood release). The car has only 150 miles since the rebuild and has never seen anything but dry pavement.

The new black interior nicely complements the Healey Blue paint that was not available for Bugeyes when they rolled off the line. Chrome wire wheels. on new rubber. were also not stock back in the day. but give it a dashing look that Healey hubcaps just can't compete with. And as with many Bugeyes. the front bumper has not been re-installed. nor the rears. so as to maintain the smooth lines of this classic. giving it a sportier look.

During the restoration. much of the body was stripped to bare metal and very minimal rust was revealed. Floor pans are original. straight. and were nearly rust-free. Prior to carpet installation. sound-deadening material was used on the entire floor of the cockpit and just behind the seats for a quieter. cooler ride. New. cloth-wrapped wiring harness from British Wiring replaced all original wiring. All instruments were refurbished by Palo Alto Speedometer. Tach was converted by them to work with the new alternator. Has a new radiator.

APT Fast in California supplied the A cylinder head (stage II. pocket ported). header. mild cam. 1275 cc roller rocker set (1. 5 ratio). super duty cam followers. push rods. ARP head bolts. gear reduction starter. Maniflow muffler. spin-on oil filter (vertical style). oil and water pumps. Billet stub stacks for the carbs. and K & N filters. Advanced Distributors in Minnesota rebuilt the distributor and vacuum unit.

This Bugeye has front disc brakes. front shocks. and a front end rebuild. The Sports Car Shop here in Eugene. Oregon did performed some of the work on the rebuild. New pads . cylinders and rotors up front. new cylinders and shoes at the rear.

The engine rebuild. install and tune was performed by Eric Jones Motorsports of Oregon. Bored . 30 over to 1323 cc. 10:1 compression ratio. Rebuilt carbs and master cylinder. Eric Jones is available at 541-556-6000 to answer specific questions about the rebuild.

As anyone who has done a restoration knows. it's expensive! And the restoration list long. No doubt items have been left out. Please view the pictures. More can be made available. The reserve is thousands below the $32K+ restoration costs. The car is advertised elsewhere so it could be sold before the auction has run its course. $1000 deposit is due within 24 hours if you should win the auction for this great little Healey. I can store it at no charge for 30 days and can assist with loading. but have no suggestions for a shipping company.
