1926 Austin 12/4 Clifton Tourer (1925 model) Reluctantly. due to family health problems. I have decided to sell my lovely old Clifton Tourer.
The car was first registered in 1926 although actually a rarer 1925 model. with the early short stroke 1660cc engine and 4 wheel brakes - these work surprisingly well for a car of this age. The previous owner kept the car for 23 years. During his ownership the engine had a complete rebuild and many improvements were made. including converting to 12v electrics and coil ignition. The car has always been garaged. well maintained and used regularly in the summer. It has proved to be 100% reliable and easy to live with.
She starts on the button (there is also a handle if it was ever required) runs sweetly and drives well. with a surprising briskness. although the non-synchromesh gearbox takes a little practice to get right every time. That is part of the charm of this lovely machine - the quintessential English vintage car. instantly recognizable as such and attracting smiles and waves from young and old. wherever she is driven.
As I hope my pictures will show. she is in very nice condition. not concours and with plenty of scope for improvement. but very presentable nonetheless. in keeping with her 87 years.
A REAL classic car - ready to drive away. with a sensible starting price and no reserve - so the first bid could be the winning bid.
Much more fun than money in the bank and if looked after. she should never depreciate. I have 12+ years on eBay and 100% feedback rating. so you may bid with confidence. This vehicle is not being advertised elsewhere and the auction will run its course. You are welcome to view the vehicle at any reasonable time. by prior arrangement. It is located nearby J. 27 of the M5. mid-way between Taunton and Exeter (an hour's drive from Bristol). A £500 deposit by PayPal is required within 24 hours of the auction finish. with the balance in cleared funds. by bank transfer. within 7 days.
