An immaculate example of a Series 2 Spider in “Verde Inglese” (English Green) that has covered only 48. 00 miles.

This Alfa has recently benefited from a major restoration project costing in excess of £10. 00 and as such is in an excellent condition both cosmetically and mechanically.

Major cosmetic works comprised a new hood. body repairs with new panels. doors and bumpers and a respray in the cars original colour. Mechanical repairs. amongst others. included installation of an Alfaholics stainless exhaust and manifold. Koni shocks all round with new springs. anti roll bar bushes and links. engine / gearbox mounts and the clutch slave cylinder. The parts for these works were all sourced from highly regarded Alfa Romeo specialists.

5 Previous owners. MOT until 20th August 2014. the car is not currently taxed.

HISTORY
According to Alfa Romeo archives this Spider was manufactured on December 27th 1976 and was invoiced by the factory to Alfa Romeo UK in London on December 29th 1977. It was first registered on June 2nd 1978.

It is not known who the first owner of this Alfa was. but a note in the history file states that the car was bought by a Peter Walker in 1979. Mr Walker was the owner of a top end audio equipment manufacturer called Quad Electroacoustics Ltd. He then retired in 1988 and registered the car in his name at his home in Cambridgeshire.

In 1999 the car was purchased by Nicholas Clayton of Northamptonshire. the husband of authoress Victoria Clayton. He retained the car until 2004 when it appears the Italian car specialist Tanc Barratt or Worcestershire sold it to a hotelier named Charles Dark. Mr Dark. owner of the Wynnstay Hotel in Machynlleth. retained the car until March 2007 when Tanc Barratt sold it to the last owner in Yorkshire who carried out the restoration work.

EXTERIOR
Finished in English Green. the Spider is in stunning condition. The paint finish is almost flawless. it has to be thoroughly examined to find any kind of blemish. The hood is nearly new. and all of the glass. and rubber are in excellent condition throughout. All chrome work was replaced during the restoration and is therefore like new with absolutely no evidence pitting or corrosion. Underneath there is no evidence of welding and it appears to retain the original floors. sills etc. The underside has Waxoyl treatment which explains the condition and should last for many years to come.

INTERIOR
This Spider comes with a fully restored interior with new carpets. seat base foams and covers. sun visors. door panels and gear leaver gaiter. The dash does not suffer from any cracking like many other cars of this era and ll dials and instruments work as they should. In the boot there is a jack and a spare alloy wheel and tyre in very good condition.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This Spider has a very tidy engine bay and you can tell instantly it has been well maintained. all the mechanics are in fine order. The engine runs smooth and strong and is quick to respond upon use of the throttle and has just this month had a basic service including oil and filter. The 5 speed gearbox works as it should without crunching into second gear which is a common problem with these cars.

SUSPENSION. WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
This car is fitted with the factory Cromodora alloy wheels all of which are in excellent condition having had a full refurbishment during the restoration. The Firestone tyres appear almost new with plenty of tread remaining. The brakes work as they should pulling the car up in a straight line and have benefited from new pads all round during the restoration. The suspension received plenty of attention during the restoration project with installation of new shocks. springs and anti roll bar bushes / links.

There are many items not mentioned above that were carried out during restoration works. As such. viewing and test drives are welcome and highly recommended so you can see this car and its qualities for yourself.

Car is located in Wandsworth. London.
