Mk1 Cortina 2 door

Hi and welcome to my auction.

For sale here we have my lovely Mk1 Cortina 2 door which is reluctantly being offered. This car has been extensively improved and maintained in recent years and the deatils are as follows:

The car is a genuine 2 door shell which has been welded and strengthened where necessary. This work included the fitting of a large transmission tunnel to accomodate the 'type 9' 5 speed gearbox.

The engine is a 1. 8 litre Zetec 'black top' twin cam linked to the Ford type 9 gearbox. The engine is running on 4 GSXZ bike carbs with a Megajolt ECU set up. This combination makes the car quick. reliable and immense fun to drive.

The front suspension is Mk1 Escort crossmember. rose jointed track control arms. 2 1/4'' Bilstein coilover struts. rebuilt calipers with new pads and cross drilled discs. double width kit antiroll bars. quick rack and Goodridge braided brake lines.

The rear is standard springs but with AVO gas adjustable shockers and lowering blocks. The car also sits on Minilite type alloys in superb condidtion with very good tyres.

Inside. the car has the multi dial binnacle beside speedo and rev counter although I should say that the gauges need rewiring. The fuel gauge doesn't work but I don't know if that is the gauge or the tank sender. Unfortunately. I'm no electrician but for someone who knows wiring. I don't think this will be a problem. There is also a circular air vent missing from the right hand side of the dash. That. as far as I am aware. is the extent of the 'bad' things on the car. The front seats are period bucket sport seats and the rear are standard. all in great condition.

Under the bonnet you will see is spotless clean and tidy and everything is as you would expect from a car so well looked after.

The car was built for Touring and is not a garage queen. It is not in showroom condition but is very tidy and presentable. Being critical. the chrome would obviously benefit from rechroming to make it sparkle and the window seals would benefit from being replaced but. nevertheless. the car is stunning to look at. great fun to drive and never fails to turn heads wherever I take it.

I am really only selling it because I have too many cars in my collection and need to move a couple on to make space. It is ready to drive away and be enjoyed.

You are welcome to come and inspect anything. lift carpets. look underneath etc. I have absolutely nothing to hide. (I have 100% feedback and intend to keep it that way).  The MOT is not due until mid June (it sailed through last year) and it also has the benefit of FREE 'Historic' road tax. How good is that!

If it's of interest. I do have some old MOT certificates and tax discs etc.

Right. the 'usual stuff' now. UK bidders only please. No Malasian collectors. money orders etc. Car will be sold on 'Cash on collection' basis and obviously won't be released until money is received / cheques cleared.
