Lagonda 2 Litre High Chassis 4 Seater Open Tourer. 1928.
We are a small family business and have been trading locally for the last 44 years. All our vehicles come direct from main dealers in part exchange for new models and are subsequently all fully HPI checked. We have been known to turn around upto 800 cars. light commercials and classic cars in a year. and here is such an example.
This is a wonderful opportunity to own a very rare piece of British motoring history.
This Lagonda was first registered on the 5th July 1928 and had the same owner right up until the 1st August 1979.
It is essentually original. predominantly unrestored and very useable as is. It is a long winged car with original body fitted which still has its original fabric covering. This eample is really just how one likes to find them as surely there cannot be many left now that have not been fully restored. which is all very nice but does come at a price.
The engine which had a lot of white metalwork done was rebuilt back in 2011 and has not really been used much since. It has a modified ignition system fitted to cope with modern driving conditions. however it does still have its rebuilt mag which can be re fitted at any time. There is also a small electric fuel pump hidden away up under the back of the chassis to assist the autovac. Mechanically everything else seems to be standard and in very good useable condition and it does actually start really well on its own starter.  The interior is very original with the exception of both front seats being retrimmed at some stage in new matching leather. All of the panelwork. back seat and most of the carpets are original. It has has two new main floor carpets made but the originals are still with the car. The fabric body as previously mentioned is completely original and still has its red pipings fitted. The hood frame is there together with a hood bag and full tonneau cover but only the remains of the original hood are present. All the dash area appears correct and it looks like all fixtures and fittings are present. right down to its Lagonda body plates.
The chassis is really nice and presentable only really needing a freshen up of the paint. This is a long winged car which in my opinion looks much more elegant than the cycle wings. All four wings are original and in outstanding condition. They have been repainted I would think not all that long ago. and if you want to be critical they would benefit from a flat and polish. having said that I dont think they were to the same standard as modern paint systems are today.
It has its original chassis plate still fitted and is complete with its original mascot and starting handle.
Still carries the same number it left the factory with in 1928.
Also comes with a clean bill of health in the form of an HPI printout.
I think that covers everything. If I have missed anything. you can email or preferably contact Roger on 07774564465. or John on 07836647244. alternatively you are welcome to come and view the car before the end of the auction. it is located in Bromley. Kent.
Please do not ask how much to buy it now. just put your best bid in and we strongly advise you do not leave it until the last minute and then miss out as so often happens.
Now for the important bit. I would respectfully ask that people follow ebay rules. that is to say please have the curtousy to only bid if you are in a position to fulfill the contract which you are entering once you have placed an auction bid. If there is someone who is lucky enough to win this car please be aware that all funds are to clear fully before the car is released. We do reserve the right to end the auction early.
Thats about it except just to say that this really is a fantastic investment opportunity to own a rare pre war Lagonda at a very reasonable price. A recent low chassis example sold in auction not that long ago for over £100k. This car can be left and enjoyed exactly in the condition it is now. or can be improved cosmetically as time goes by. or could be fully restored. Whichever route you decide it is surely only going to go up in value and could one day catch up to the more expensive pre war Bentley models as they become increasingly rarer.
Please no dreamers or time wasters.
Please read my feedback and bid with total confidence.
Finally all I would like to add is good luck and thanks for looking.
