1935 Cadillac Series 20 - 678 - Rumble Seat Coupe

This particular car - a 1935 Series 20 Model 678 Rumble Seat Coupe - body number 22 - was ordered January 24. 1935 through Cadillac of Boston by a doctor in Waltham. Massachusetts. After faithfully serving the doctor on his appointed rounds. the stately Cadillac passed through several careful owners. seeing very limited use until being fully restored in California. The rust-free car was stripped to bare metal and repainted in a deep. glossy black finish. The upholstery was replaced in a beautiful tan wool broadcloth. with the intricate art deco style stitching on the door panels faithfully replicated. The rumble seat was reupholstered in deep tan leather.   The incredible original gauges were cleaned and remain just as they left the factory 78 years ago. The interior is understated. elegant. and in a word: spectacular. The driver's compartment is comfortable with lots of room for two inside. with additional space for two adventurous guests in the rumble seat on a nice day.

Mechanically. the original numbers-matching. 353 cubic inch. 130 horsepower flathead V-8 engine was serviced as needed. The low. original mileage of 66. 00 miles is believed to be correct. The engine runs beautifully with no smoke or other issues. Plenty of power. Transmission shifts smoothly and quietly. Runs cool. It is happy on the highway. around town. or on the show field. Newer tires. Truly a turn-key car. Please see video.

The car is nicely optioned with flexible "banjo" steering wheel. dual sidemounted spare tires with mirrors. dual driving lights and trunk rack with Cadillac steel trunk. giving plenty of storage for luggage on extended tours.

This is an extremely rare model Cadillac. With body number 22 of an estimated production run of less than 50 long-wheelbase (136") hardtop coupes in 1935. Over the years. most were lost through use and some were chopped to become roadsters. It is indeed rare to find an original Series 20 Coupe today. Our own research indicates this is one of just 4 remaining in the world.
