Austin 7 Seven - EB 65 Sports 1934

A nicely usable and well patinated example of this rare sports Austin. About 320 of these alloy bodied cars were made. This one has its original body and is largely very sound. I have owned the car for a short time and it is only for sale as something I've been after for some time has unexpectedly been offered to me.

I've made quite a lot of improvements since I got the car, making internal trim panels to the correct pattern and covering them in period type leathercloth. The seats are in very good quality leather, with pneumatic seat cushions. There are very good repro rubber mats fitted. I rebuilt all of the shock absorbers with new bushes and friction discs.

The engine was rebuilt whist in the hands of the previous owner and has covered few miles. It does not have its original crankcase with the reinforcing ribs, but the correct Chromidium cylinder block and 9E high compression head is fitted, along with the correct alloy inlet manifold. It runs well and has lively performance as it should. The 4 speed Gearbox is very nice too. The radiator has been re-cored at a cost of £600, and I've fitted new top and bottom hoses.

The wheels have been re-conditioned and fitted with 5 new Blockley's.

The car has been completely re-wired in armoured cable. Wiring is there ready for indicators, but they are not fitted.

There is a complete hood frame with the car, in good condition, together with some side screens, both of which require re-covering. There is also a new exhaust front pipe with the car.

The paintwork was done many years ago and has quite a lot of microblistering. However, it is quite presentable as it is as long as you don't mind some patina, or 'oily rag' style. The windscreen, radiator shell and headlamps have been re-chromed.

It's a complete and largely original car that you can use and enjoy as it is, or re-paint it some time in the future to make it top notch.

Ideal for blowing lockdown cobwebs away and taking part in the Austin 7 Centenary celebrations next year, which promise to be a great event!
