1969 Ford F100 Short Bed Pickup

For sale a rare and pretty unique ford F100 pickup with a load of new upgrades.

It is actually a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria chassis, engine, running gear from a police interceptor with a 1969 F100 body swap. Previous owner stated that the car was used in a Hollywood film production in the UK and was due to be scrapped as they did not want to register or ship it back to the states so he bought it and now has the nickname Zombie 100 (car was used in World War Z).

So it has the look of a classic truck with a more modern drive train. Paint finish is unique as the previous owner gave it a raw metal effect paint job. I think this looks great and give the sort of patina rat rod effect which really suits this truck.

In my ownership the car has had a bit of an overhaul but not a full restoration. It was up for sale recently but due to the amount of questions and low bids because of the wiring and engine bay condition I have put a lot of new parts on and rewired the truck completely. In the last few weeks its had upwards of £5k spent on it.

I have removed all of the original crown vic wiring, fuses and ecu and replaced it with a stand alone fuse kit for the car and then replace the engine, timing and transmission control systems. These are all now stand alone and easily tuneable for any future owner.

It has a 4.6 2v modular V8 with PI heads. Fitted an Edelbrock intake ($750 to suit a 4 barrel carb and then fitted an MSD EFI carb ($1500) . This is a self tuning kit (supports up to 500hp) so the more you drive the better the tune gets, which is running a return fuel system using the original pump and a new pressure regulator. (https://www.cjponyparts.com/msd-efi-conversion-master-kit-atomic/p/EFI2900/) has the capability to handle boost/nitrous if you ever wanted to go down that route.

MSD electronic ignition ($500+)https://www.holley.com/products/ignition/ignition_boxes/distributorless/parts/6011) and new MSD coil packs ($250 https://www.holley.com/products/ignition/ignition_coils/late_model_coil_packs/ford-lincoln-mercury/ford_cop_coils/parts/82428)  specifically for this engine, reads the cam and crank position and controls the ignition timing and is tunable but you have to plug in a computer to it (cable included). Has a standard tune at the moment.

Also fitted an MSD transmission controller ($750 https://www.holley.com/products/drivetrain/transmission_controller/parts/2760) , this again can be tuned but using the built in handheld computer so you can change shift points e.t.c very easily in the truck. This means it now has the look of an older carb engine which you'd expect from a 1969 truck but has EFI and computer controlled ignition and transmission.

Have changed the oil and filters in the engine and gearbox and given it a coolant flush. Replaced the rear gearbox seal and the seal on the selector arm which was leaking previously. As it is no longer running the crown vic ECU I have fitted a custom decat exhaust from the manifold back (not enough space for headers) with side pipes. It is loud, I have only fitted small silencers, but these are clamped on so could be replaced easily with larger ones if needed.

Interior is ok. Bench seat was replaced previously so is only a 2 seater. Has an original F100 gauge cluster. Running a speedhut GPS to speedo cable box($400 https://www.speedhut.com/ecommerce/product/2585/SPEEDBOX%E2%84%A2-GPS-VSS-to-Mechanical-Drive-Speed-Converter-(Cable-Included)) , means its getting its speed from a GPS signal but is displayed on an original speedo. Car has a modern Bluetooth radio with 4 speaker and a small sub. As previously mentioned has a brand new Old Air Products Hurricane Complete air con system. This is a £1500 kit and works great. It is not a combination system so its either heater on or air con on.

On the exterior the car has a patina effect paint job and is running the original police cruiser steel wheels with cover caps. Wheels have spacers on. I have fitted a custom wooden truck bed. As it's a crown vic there is a big step in the truck bed for the rear axle so the bed was in essence unusable. I built a frame on top of the original bed and fitted a custom wooden bed. Made with Keruing so is sturdy and hard wearing so bed can be used as intended now. Body has dents and some small rust holes. These aren't new and were on the car when painted but are all part of the cars unique look.

So if you are after a late 60's rat rod style truck with a modern drive train this is the truck for you. There is still space for improvement with the interior but wanted to leave that down to the buyer. If i could find one i would put a bench seat back into the truck. I have the sun visors and chrome headliner trim but these are not fitted. Also have the Texas plate it came on. Turns heads and gets noticed everywhere it goes and plenty of scope to take it to the next level. Would consider a PX but would need to be a car and money my way.
