Every one in the mid 1980s must have known that the V8 was on borrowed time. This was a car with roots right back to the DB4; the new Virage was still a couple of years away. The Volante was a successful car particularly in the USA. Possibly six cars were made by special arrangement by the factory with Vantage spec engines but these were very much the exception. The true Vantage Volante. first shown at the 1986 Birmingham Motor Show was more than just a Volante with the more powerful 580X-pack engine. The powerful convertible was visibly distinguished by a huge air dam. wide arches. flared sills and flip tail.
With a maximum speed in excess of 160 mph. these were the fastest four seater convertible cars of their time. Indeed a mid 1990s Virage couldn't keep up with one of these.
During a production run of just 3 years. a total of just 167 examples of the V8 Vantage Volante were built. Of the 167 cars. 58 left hand drive examples were exported (principally to the USA with less powerful Weber Marelli Fuel Injected engine. In the late 1980s it was perhaps Astons most popular model even though the price had jumped to an enormous £ 135. 000 in 1989.
This stunning. low mileage. automatic transmission version of the V8 Vantage Volante is finished in the most attractive colour scheme of Chichester Blue complemented with a Parchment hide interior. piped in Blue with Blue Wilton carpeting. and finished off with the correct dark Blue Everflex Power hood.
Having covered only 19. 24 miles from new with comprehensive Aston Martin service history this beautifully kept iconic British supercar is ready to be viewed in our Kew showroom.
