1968 V6 Reliant Scimitar GT SE4 Coupe 3.0 Essex Engine for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.25) based on 605 votes
It is with some reluctance I've decided to sell my Scimitar Coupe.
This time of year is most definitely not the right one to be selling a car. but I have plenty of time to sell.  I must stress that I don't have to sell and will only entertain genuine reasonable offers. Be quick before I change my mind.
Good points :-
Old English White (or similar) with recent 15" minilite replica wheels and new tyres Fully adjustable suspension. with front end polybushedElectronic ignitionElectric fuel pump (for quick starting)Excellent interior. though the headlining is a bit brittle. but good non the less. 10 month's MOT and 12 months tax (Tax is free anyway)New oil pump and sump gasket. Oil pressure is 75lb cold and 50lb hot. Recently rebuilt engine with hot cam and steel timing gear. Electric fan and Kenlowe electronic thermostatic controller. Stainless tubular manifoldsStainless exhausts (with the nicest sound I have heard from any V6 Scimitar)Goes really well. and pulls nicely through all the gears. Overdrive works perfectly. Later D port type Essex engine. so parts availability is very good. The chassis has been painted and wax oiled. There were no advisories regarding the chassis on the MOT. so all is good there. All round nice looking car. that will not embarrass you at a show and will always be a talking point wherever you take it.
Bad points:-
The paint is not perfect. despite how it looks in the photos. There are a few chips. and there is a light gel crack visible above one of the wheel arches.  If you want a concours car. then this is not for you. If you want a nice usable car that you'd be happy to park at a show or the supermarket. then this is definitely for you. There are a couple of light oil leaks from underneath. I think one is from the diff pinion seal and the other is from the gearbox. These are just steady little drips of a few mls when the car is left standing. which is why I haven't bothered with them. I don't think either would be a particularly difficult fix. The car has a new heater valve on the manifold. but the cable is not yet connected (I have the cable ready to fit)The radiator top tank has been repaired in the past. but at the moment it is leak free. It was also re-cored at some point and cools the engine well. I have a replacement alloy radiator available if the buyer would like to negotiate on that. The chrome is generally good. but to get that concours finish it would need to be re-plated. The radio does not work. but it is a classic style. so is there for aesthetic purposes only. As the car has been converted to electronic ignition. the rev counter can sometimes be a little erratic.
All in all this is a really nice usable Scimitar.  I took it to the Oulton Park Classic event earlier in the year and it received many favorable comments.
The price of these cars can vary from £1000 for a basket case. and up to £20. 00 if you sell a concours one in Europe. My car is not concours. it is simply a good useable car that looks great from a couple of yards away. I would say that it's better than most that come up for sale. and the price I am asking would allow some further cosmetic work without the car being worth less than you have spent.
Weighing up the current market for these cars. the upward trend in prices. and what it actually owes me. I am asking for £4995. I have been told that this is too cheap. but I feel that it is reasonable. Please check the many classic car selling websites to compare my price with similar cars. I doubt you'll find better value elsewhere.
Please remember that this car is 45 years old. and as such it is not perfect. I believe my price accurately reflects the condition of the car.  Any buyer should satisfy themselves that they are clear about the what they are buying and the condition by asking questions and coming to see it in the flesh if possible.
I am an active member of the RSSOC and have owned many Scimitars. I will still have others once this is sold.

I had a Scimitar in 1968 and would like one for nostalgic reasons.
If the car is as good as you say I would be interested in seeing it.
When and where would be convenient?
