MY BELOVED 1972 TRIUMPH STAG HAS TO GO DUE TO A HOUSE MOVE AND. I ADMIT. WANING INTEREST. I BOUGHT HER IN FEBRUARY 1991 AFTER WANTING ONE SINCE WALKING PAST A STAG ON THE WAY TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY BACK IN THE DAY. I STARTED THE RESTORATION STRAIGHT AWAY. BUT A NEW HOUSE PURCHASE IN 1992 RELEGATED THE STAG TO THE GARAGE FOR 6 YEARS. I THEN COMPLETED THE BODY WORK. SUSPENSION. ETC. THE STAG WAS THEN LEFT IN THE GARAGE FOR A FURTHER 4 YEARS AS I MOVED TO THE USA THRU WORK. THE WORK WAS COMPLETED WHILE I WAS IN THE USA BY FAVERSHAM CLASSICS IN KENT SO SHE WAS 95% COMPLETE WHEN I MOVED BACK TO THE UK IN 2003 - ONLY MAJOR JOB NEEDED WAS TO RETRIM THE SEATS AND DOOR CARDS. I HAVE A RING BINDER PACKED WITH PHOTOS AND RECEIPTS THAT I WOULD BE GLAD TO PASS ON WITH THE CAR - I MAY HAVE TO REMOVE A FEW PHOTOS AS I APPEAR IN SOME ALONG WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY. UNFORTUNATELY ANOTHER NEW HOUSE PLUS TWO KIDS PREVENTED ME FROM GETTING THE STAG COMPLETED FULLY. NOW SOME 10 YEARS LATER AND ANOTHER NEW HOUSE. SHE REALLY HAS TO GO TO A NEW HOME HERSELF SO SHE CAN BE COMPLETED AND DRIVEN AS SHE SHOULD BE. AN OVERVIEW OF THE WORK COMPLETED IS GIVEN BELOW - : NEARLY ALL PANELS WERE REPLACED - BOOT LID. DOORS. SILLS. INNER WINGS. OUTER WINGS. FRONT VALANCE. FLOOR PANELS. OUTRIGGERS. REAR WING REPAIR PANELS - BONNET IS ORIGINAL. ALL PANEL REPLACEMENTS WAS HANDLED BY AN PROFESSIONAL AND EXPERIENCED BODY WORK FRIEND - NO HOME WELDING BODGES. : BARE METAL RESPRAY CARRIED OUT BY FAVERSHAM CLASSICS. KENT - STAG ONLY EXPERTS. : ALL SUSPENSION REMOVED. MEDIA BLASTED AND RE-PAINTED. NEW POLYURETHANE BUSHES AND SPAX ADJUSTABLE SHOCK ABSORBERS FITTED. : REBUILT ENGINE ALSO SUPPLIED AND FITTED BY FAVERSHAM CLASSICS. NEW CLUTCH FITTED. : STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST SYSTEM WITH SPORTS SILENCERS AND LARGE BORE TAIL PIPES FITTED. : CAR WAX OILED. : WOODEN DASHBOARD RE-VENEERED IN BURR WALNUT. : NEW SHADOW BLUE CARPET SET FITTED. ALONG WITH SHADOW BLUE CUBBY PANELS AND B POST COVERS. ORIGINAL SHADOW BLUE SEATS AND DOORS PANELS (COLOUR DOESN'T SEEM TO COME ACROSS IN THE PHOTOS). : HOOD FRAME MEDIA BLASTED. REPAINTED. AND COVERED WITH NEW DARK BLUE HOOD. : NEW WINDSCREEN FITTED WITH BLUE TOP SUN SCREEN. : NEW DARK BLUE BOOT CARPET FITTED (I HAD PLANNED TO RETRIM THE WHOLE INTERIOR IN DARK BLUE LEATHER). : NEW FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS FITTED. : NEW WING MIRRORS FITTED. : 5 x MARK II WHEELS REFINISHED WITH DARK BLUE PAINT AND NEW TYRES. : VEHICLE VALUED BY STAG OWNERS CLUB IN 2001 AT £15. 00 - VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY ON AN AGREED VALUE INSURANCE POLICY AT £12. 00. : CHECKING BACK TO THE FIRST MOT I HAD COMPLETED. THE STAG HASN'T COVERED MORE THAN 3. 00 MILES IN THE LAST 22 YEARS ! : CLASSED AS A HISTORIC VEHICLE BY THE BRITISH HERITAGE TRUST SO NO ROAD TAX TO PAY (CERTIFICATE AVAILABLE). AS SHE HAS BEEN STANDING FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS NOW. THE TIME IS STARTING TO TELL AGAIN SO HERE IS AN OVERVIEW OF THE BAD BITS - THOSE THAT WILL NEED REDONE OR COMPLETED: : FRONT BUMPER HAS SURFACE RUSTING. : MANY RUBBERS SUCH AS WINDSCREEN. BUMPER OVERRIDERS. REAR EXHAUST MOUNTS (I HAVE NEW ONES). HAVE CRACKED OR SPLIT AND NEED REPLACING. : HOOD FRAME NEEDS REALIGNING. NO HARD TOP UNFORTUNATELY - THIS GOT LOST WHEN I WAS IN THE USA. : GEARBOX OR DIFF WERE NOT REPLACED. NEW OVERDRIVE SOLENOID WAS FITTED BUT I WOULD RECOMMEND GEARBOX LOOKED AT AS CHANGING UP FROM 1ST GEAR IS A LITTLE STICKY. NO PROBLEMS WITH DIFF THAT I KNOW OF. : I RECENTLY REMOVED THE BODY STRIPS WHEN I PLANNED TO GET THE STAG BACK ON THE ROAD AND A FEW SMALL PATCHES OF PAINT CAME AWAY WITH THE STRIPS. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED A COUPLE OF SMALL DENTS IN THE BONNET (BELIEVE THIS WAS WHEN I CUT A FEW BRANCHES BACK OVER THE DRIVEWAY AND DROPPED SOME ON THE CAR). ALSO NOTICED A SLIGHT DENT IN ONE DOOR WHEN TAKING THE PHOTOS. THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A SMALL AREA ON THE TOP OF THE BONNET THAT SEEMED TO HAVE BLISTERED AFTER SHE WAS PAINTED. BUT IT HAS NOT GOT ANY WORSE. BEING A FUSSY PERSON MYSELF. I WOULD LOOK TO HAVE A COMPLETE RESPRAY BUT NOT REALLY ESSENTIAL. : SOME FIXTURES ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE SHOWING SIGN OF SURFACE RUST. : WHEEL RIMS NEED RE-POLISHING (I HAD PLANNED TO FIT MONARCH WHEELS). : I HAD REPLACEMENT CARBURETTORS FITTED AS SHE SEEMED TO RUN RICH. THIS HASN'T REALLY SOLVED THE PROBLEM AND I WOULD HAVE LOOKED TO FIT HOLLY CARBS FROM MONARCH. : ELECTRIC WINDOWS MOTORS ARE TIRED AND NEED REPLACING - I HAVE FEW SECOND HAND UNITS THAT HAVE BEEN TESTED THAT I HAD PLANNED TO FIT. : VEHICLE HAS BEEN SORN FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS SO WILL NEED AN MOT AND TAX DISC. SO WILL NEED TO BE TRANSPORTED BY TRAILER. I HOPE THAT THE ABOVE COMMENTS PLUS THE SELECTION OF PHOTOS GIVE AN ACCURATE PICTURE OF THE VEHICLE BUT IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE FURTHER DETAILS OR PHOTOS OF A PARTICULAR AREA. JUST LET ME KNOW. SORRY BUT I CANNOT ACCEPT PAYPAL PAYMENT DUE TO FEES - I WOULD REQUIRE CASH ON COLLECTION. BATTERY WILL NEED CHARGING.
