1929 Rolls Royce Phantom II Barker Boat Tail

An important India car with drop dead gorgeous coachwork.

Ordered new by the Maharajah of Baroda for his highness Prince Pratapsinhrao; The maharajah was an excellent customer of Rolls Royce ordering no less then 31 cars from them. This particular example was ordered new with a Barker open body finished in Ivory & pale blue. the colours we find it in today. The coachwork was specified with a recess in the offside door suitable to contain a revolver pistol.

The car has under the current ownership undergone a full & thorough restoration completed a few months ago. The car has been stripped back to bare metal & repainted in its original colours. The upholstery is tan leather with ostrich pattern embossed upon it again in as new perfect condition. New carpets are fitted throughout. All woodwork has been removed & refinished to a mirror polish.

Mechanically the car has been thoroughly gone through. A complete engine rebuild has just been done at vast expense including new pistons. new head. new cam shaft. and refurbishment of the top & bottom ends. Likewise the carburettor has been stripped & rebuilt & tuned. The radiator matrix has been replaced. a new clutch fitted & the car sits on four brand new tyres.

The car has a cunningly contrived hood which provides protection for the front occupants during inclement weather. A snug tonneau snaps over the rear quarters to keep rain at bay. A secondary windscreen protects the rear occupants.

Nickel plating has been redone by Derby Plating to their usual high standards. Just about everything else that could have been done has been done leaving the car in superb concours condition. Attention was also given to the coach work fettling & renewing parts as required to get the car to the condition we see it in today. The car is in stock with us now & ready for viewings/teat drives once we have put a few hundred miles on it to gently run the engine in.
