1949 MG TC

Between 2000 and 2006 the MG was owned by an ambassador to United Nations and was subject of the first of two restoration programmes in the past thirteen years. We have receipts for over £18. 00 worth of work carried out during this first stage of restoration to include a full body strip down and rebuild. The panels and tub were stripped down to metal re-paint. restored and re-painted in Aston Martin Islay Blue. The interior was fully re-trimmed with top quality hide and a brand new hood and tonneau made and the car was then UK registered in 2006. In 2007 a further £8000 was spent on major mechanical work to include rebuilding the engine with new pistons. main and big end bearings. The MG was also subject of some rear axle and brake work. This mechanical work has been superbly documented with detailed invoices from the Rolls Royce/Bentley Engineering Company that carried out the work. Since 2009 a further £2500 has been spent on further improvements to include a gearbox overhaul and the fitting of a TC big valve cylinder head.

As a result of in the region of £30. 00 worth of expenditure and little use. this MG TC is outstanding in every respect. The bodywork is beautiful with high quality paintwork. the leather upholstery. high quality dashboard. carpets and full weather equipment are first class and the MG has a stunning set of chrome wire wheels and as new Blockley tyres. Under the bonnet is superbly detailed with a stunning. clean engine. ancillaries and bulkhead. FOT 700 is a truly exceptional car in a wonderful colour combination and has to be one of the most eye catching TC's we've seen.

On the road FOT 700 is glorious with a first class engine that is strong. holds excellent oil pressure. idles perfectly and runs as one would expect when brand new. The engine offers excellent performance and is certainly enhanced by the TC big valve cylinder head. The four speed gearbox is slick with smooth changes and the car has a superb tight road holding. This is certainly one of the best driving TC's we've had and is clearly something quite special. The car has been rebuilt with no expense spared and not only is it fabulous on the road.
