She's a little different to most MGB Roadsters. as I'll describe below. Read the description. check out the photos. and please ask if you have any questions. It goes without saying that any inspection prior to bidding is welcome - the car is garaged in Wimbledon SW London
Overview
1968 (F registration) MGB Roadster. in Tartan Red.
Tax exempt - but currently has 12 months
11 months MOT
2000cc engine. 5 speed gearbox
Chrome wire wheels
Dry use only. and has been garaged by me since I bought it (as it was by previous owner)
Paperwork present (V5. MOT certs)
Exterior
The absolute main reason I bought this car originally was on the strength of the bodywork. it has now been stripped & re-sprayed last month
A clue as to the lack of rust can be found on the windscreen. This car has 3 wipers. which intimates that she was made for the US market. A lifetime spent showing off in the clear and dry Californian air therefore probably has something to do with it!
She has the full set of painted wire wheels & chrome spinners
Brand new hood. bright work. all in lovely condition
Interior
New carpets
Leather seats
Mahogany effect dash.
Engine
It is not the original 1800cc MG lump. When (assumedly) imported back from the States. she had a 2000cc Ford Pinto block fitted to her. I must admit that my original plan was to put a B series back in. but I changed my mind as soon as I hit the motorway on the way back to London after first collecting her. To say she has more poke than an original would be some understatement. It's also more fuel efficient.
A picture of the engine bay can be seen above. It's serviceable by any mechanic worth their salt who knows their way around 1990s engines.
One of the benefits of this engine is a 5 speed 'box. Very. very handy for anything over 50 mph.
This car has had thousands spent on it over the last few months. resulting in a beautiful restoration.
So. there you have it. Any questions/ inspection requests please feel free to get in touch. The MG is advertised elsewhere so she might be withdrawn at any time. Whilst this is an auction format I'm happy to entertain sensible and serious offers.
Any questions. please call Mark on: 07968021503
