Ford Custom Deluxe

FOR SALE: A truly rare example and one of only a few 1950 Ford Custom Deluxe fordor in the UK.

EQUIPMENT
Fulton Sunshine Company sun visor. Prism traffic light viewer. Front and rear bumper overriders. Centre fog light. Crestliner steering wheel. Magic Air heater. Chrome clock surround. Chrome hubcap surrounds. Chrome fuel filler surround. Chrome and gold bonnet ornament.

EXTERIOR
This 1950 example benefited from a full body off restoration in the early 1990's using only NOS parts. The paint remains in superb condition with only very minor blemishes. All of the chrome. and there is a lot. is in beautiful condition and the car has many nice period exterior extras including the bumper overriders. centre fog light and the original sun visor from the Fulton Sunshine Company in Milwaukee.

INTERIOR
The stylish yet simple interior has an art deco feel and is a sublime place to enjoy a weekend drive on the incredibly comfortable bench seats. The quality of the retrim is first class with a perfect head lining and fine quality fabric trimming the seats and door card. The attention to detail is excellent and again some nice period accessories have been fitted including the white Crestliner steering wheel and the Magic air heater.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
After the car was delivered to the UK the owner discovered that there were cracks appearing on the engine block so he fitted a rebuilt core replacement engine which was shipped over from the Early Ford Centre in the USA. The car now runs extremely well and the new engine provides smooth performance with the perfect V8 soundtrack.

WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
The chrome hub caps are immaculate and the wheels further benefit from a set of chrome hubcap surrounds. The tyres have plenty of tread and are the correct cross ply whitewalls as fitted in 1950.

HISTORY FILE
This example was assembled on the 2nd February 1950 at Fords Norfolks plant and then bought new by Dr R W Bost on the 18th May 1950 by the main dealer Strowd Motor Company. It remained in the same family ownership until 1989 when it was bought by a Mr J Cauble who had the car fully stripped to the frame and fully restored with NOS parts. After the restoration he kept the car for a further 9 years. it then changed hands a couple of times before being bought by the current owner in 2008 and shipped to the UK.

Since being in the UK the car has been treasured by its new and only UK owner and treated to a new engine and many rare accessories. He has kept a very interesting file that details work carried out. parts purchased and lots of original sales brouchurs and editorial clippings. Even the owners manual and car service policy book remain.
