Thank you for taking the time to look at this auction for my Jaguar E Type.

Finished in cream this series 1. 5 has been owned by myself since April 2007.

The previous keeper had owned the car since 1984 and had covered minimal mileage during this time. especially during the latter stages of his ownership. He was 78 when I purchased the car.

When I purchased RVP971G there was a substantial history file. however a proportion of this was lost in a burglary. I can show you the cctv footage of this. although sadly that won't bring it back.

The bonnet is a series one type and was brand new shortly before I acquired the vehicle in 2007. there are no dents or rust on the bonnet. the undertray is solid. The bonnet was removed from the car last year and re painted on the underside as you can see from the images. At this time the undertray was also lightly treated with stonechip. There are a couple of small areas of over spray from this job that could do with being polished off. however when I collected the vehicle from the paint shop I simply put it back into storage and have never got around to doing this.

I did have receipts in the paperwork for new inner and outer sills fitted during the late 1980's. however as stated sadly much of this paperwork is now missing.

The gear box was rebuilt prior to my ownership and is strong with no noise or whining. all gears select as they should.

When I purchased the car I did what I guess you would call a lot of recommissioning work. all of the carbs were completely rebuilt with new seals. floats etc. the airbox was replaced. a brand new stainless steel exhaust was fitted and a deep service was carried out prior to any use.

The brakes were all removed and new seals fitted to the calipers. new discs were also fitted.

I had electronic ignition fitted. and renewed the ht leads. The steering wheel is brand new.

All coolant hoses were replaced.

A new starter was fitted due to an intermittent issue that could not be resolved with a new solenoid.

With the exception of this year I had this vehicle serviced twice a year. once at the start of the "good weather" season. and then once I had finished using it at  the end of the summer.

I am always guilty of over servicing my vehicles. so whenever a service was carried out this included gear box oil. rear diff. engine oil and filters. along with all grease ports.

However as this car is 45 years old it does have some bad points. and please keep this in mind when bidding.

The car has had paintwork during its life. there is some cracking to the paint as shown on the images. the main area is on the bulkhead at the bottom of the windscreen. although they are also present on the roof. it isn't really noticeable. but to make this car immaculate it would benefit from paintwork as inevitably it is impossible to match paint that is 45 years old. however with that said whoever painted the new bonnet did a very good job!

There are now some bubbles on the rear arches that have started to show through during the time the car has been in storage. the paintwork on the sill is cracking as shown. however this is not due to rot. the still is still completely solid. There is a small area of rust where the arch meets the sill. This is the only corrosion on the car. the floors. boot floor and sills are all extremely solid with only the mentioned areas needing paintwork.

There are areas of the car as you can see from the pictures where the colours are not exactly the same tone. however it is still a very presentable vehicle that I have been very proud to own.

I have covered quite a lot of miles in this car. there are no issues with overheating at all. the thermostat has been changed during my ownership and the fans come on as required. The oil pressure as shown in the photos sits at around 30lfb at tick over once the car is up to temperature. There are no adverse noises from the engine. it pulls strongly through all of the gears and does not miss at all. There is no white smoke under acceleration. however it will emit black smoke if driven hard. however that is not my driving style!

There is no noise or whining from the rear diff. axle or bearings. however there is an intermittent clunk if you select reverse after the car has been going forward. for example reversing out of a parking space you have driven into. I had this investigated by the garage that have serviced the car during my ownership. and whist there is play in the diff the gentleman who looked after the car said it will be a long time before any work needs to be carried out if at all.

There are oil leaks from the engine as with most of these 4. 2's however the gearbox and diff do not leak.

There is a small amount of work required for an mot. mainly a leak on the drivers side caliper. I understand that is is now possible view the failure report online from the registration number. However from memory the only work required was a caliper seal and the wash wipers did not apply enough water to the windscreen! The garage the carried out the mot did not wish to carry out the work on the caliper. so I collected the car with the intention of completing the work myself. However as I now spend large periods of time away from home due to work commitments I have decided to sell the car without an MOT.

Please note the car is currently on sorn and has no mot.

All of the tyres are matching and were new shortly before my ownership. there is a spare wire wheel and all of the associated tools required. including copper / leather hammer and spinner remover. There is no jack.

Under the bonnet is very tidy as shown in the pictures but as with most of the car would benefit from a good clean. !

I am the third owner of this car and I have treasured every moment I have spent with it. a very drivable example that can be improved upon over time or enjoyed as she is.

Please feel free to send me any questions by the "Ask as question" link on this page. my mobile number is 07428 556550 however due to the nature of my work there are large proportions of the day when I cannot answer. however you can leave a message and I will call you back.

Please remember if you bid on this car you are bidding to buy. not to haggle on completion. as stated this car is 45 years old and is sold as seen with no warranty implied or given.

Thanks for looking.

Ryan :)
