Triumph Stag. 1975 V8 manual with overdrive. matching numbers. very low miles

This Triumph Stag is a family estate sale for the South of France and has just cost £650 to have it transported back to the UK so it could be sold easier. it had been driven down to the South of France in 2005 where it was in the garage mostly unused.

I invited a local classic car garage to come to appraise the car with the view to them purchasing it from us Thursday morning last week where they offered £500 'as is'. later the same day it went to £1000 as it would need an m. o. t before they could sell it! By Friday teatime it has risen in value to their final offer of £2850!

I am selling this therefore as a restoration project as it does not have an m. o. t and they tell me it is not legal to sell a car without one in the UK and I do not want to get into any arguments about the car at a later time. I know for certain it was being used between 14/6 and 14/7 in France this year as it was insured also a local garage in France did a service and changed the head gaskets (a ticket is attached inside the bonnet with the date) but I can not find any paperwork but saw the car being used when I was there in the summer. It is therefore up to any person interested to have the car inspected prior to bidding to ensure satisfaction.

The paintwork has some marks mainly due to storage rather than rust and appears to be very solid with nice shut lines. The tyres are in very good shape with the spare still unused. the wheels are I am told are the original factory fitted wheels and in the boot is the jack and a special tool for the hood!

The interior is I am told original and the floors under the carpets is the same colour green as the car as is the inside of the boot and the space where the hood folds down inside. no rust. The carpets are a little dry in places and when pealed back to inspect the floors and sills crumbled a little but showed no rust. The seats present well with no rips and support well.

The mileage of 48600 would appear to be true as I had spoken the previous owner from the late 1980s to 1990 who had the car for 10 years and confirmed the little use in their time. they also had the private plate fitted to the car which I am reliably told is worth between 2/3K to . wners of 'Street' Japanese cars and if you look at the registration companies web sites they sell for upward of 4K in this exact format!

The engine bay seams clean and tidy with no obvious leaks and the battery has 19/2/2013 written on it but the battery bracket is missing (needed for the m. o. t) The hood is dusty.

All electrics appear to work . lectric windows go up and down but the inside red light on the drivers door panel is not working but the passengers side is. There is a stainless steel strip for the near side sill but is not attached. The wooden dash is in fine original condition and the dash has the little rubber mat in it.

This is not a show condition car (I have seen much worse at car shows) so please inspect the car prior to bidding or purchasing this car to avoid problems later. this is why it is sold as a non runner/project so that there will be no disappointment. Whilst in France earlier in the year an offer for £4500 was rejected as it was too much trouble to have the French documents done but I think it must be worth so much more to the right person. I will sell it without reserve starting at £3250 being the lowest price I could see one for sale at and the number plate may just be worth more than that.
