Hi all. welcome to my auction for my 1978 Triumph Dolomite Sprint that I have just finished a 14month restoration on. I restored the car to use as our wedding car. but spent so much on it. I now have got to sell her.

I have copied and pasted the following spec from Word.

 

Spec for 1978 Triumph Dolomite Sprint. SBV574T.

 

Background……

I bought this car after it had been stored in a dry container for 19 years. subsequently. most of the parts were either seized. perished or generally in bad shape. I stripped the car to a bare shell. resprayed the car in Vermillion in proper 2 pack paint and began the restoration process. Whilst. where I could. attempting to retain as much of the car's originality. a lot of parts were replaced. others were refurbished to as new standard. I have spent nearly a year bringing the car to this standard. and I have spent a massive amount of money. and an estimated 600 hours completing the task. The following is a detailed list of what has been carried out.

Engine…….

1998cc 16 valve engine. totally stripped. new Vandervell main and big end bearings (Std/Std). little ends checked. Original pistons with new AE rings. bores honed. New Payen head set. brand new genuine BL Cam. shimmed and timed correctly. brand new timing chain. tensioner and guides. new gaskets throughout. All bolts replaced with correct length stainless bolts and washers/spring washers where needed. New 20/50 Mineral oil used.

Gearbox………

Stripped and checked. all good. Overdrive checked for operation. all ok. Oil replaced.

Clutch………

New AP Borg and Beck Clutch plate and cover fitted. Brand new Master and Slave cylinders. new Goodridge clutch hose.

Cooling System…….

Brand new Water pump and cover. correctly shimmed. Complete new set of coolant hoses and clips. Brand new Radiator. filled with correct 50/50% Anti-freeze mixture.

Exhaust system………….

Brand new. full stainless steel “Sport” exhaust.

Fuel system……….

Brand new mechanical fuel pump. SU HS6 Carbs fully rebuilt with genuine kits. All fuel hoses replaced. Brand new Carb mountings. Brand new throttle and choke cables.

Front Suspension………….

Brand new front dampers and springs. Brand new upper and lower ball joints. all rubber bushes brand new. Subframe stripped. sand blasted and painted in two pack black. Reassembled with all new bolts. either Stainless or BZP in correct lengths.

Rear Suspension……………

Brand new Genuine Unipart rear dampers. new springs. all rear suspension components stripped. sand blasted and painted in two pack black. Reassebled with all new bolts. either Stainless or BZP in correct lengths.

Front Brakes…………….

Brand new Front discs. pads and Calipers. Brand new Goodridge hoses.

Rear Brakes………….

Brand new wheel cylinders. brand new brake shoes and fittings. Drums checked for wear and ovality. “PRV” valve checked for leaks and operation. ok. Brand new goodridge hose.

Brakes General………….

Master cylinder refurbished with new seal kit. all brake lines replaced with Kunifer. New dot 4 fluid.

Rear Axle…………

Stripped checked. backlash and tooth pattern checked. all ok. New EP90 oil topped up. Sand blasted and painted in two pack black.

Bodyshell………….

Excellent condition shell. with very small welding repairs from a long time ago. Fully resprayed. and cavity waxed. Underside stone chipped and waxed. All four doors are in excellent condition. and are waxed inside.

Electrical………….

Brand new battery. starter and alternator check and cleaned. all wiring checked (as best I could). New headlamp bowls. Brand new fuse box. Brand new indicator and hazard flasher units.

Summary………….

There has not been a stone unturned with this car. virtually every nut. bolt. washer and screw has been replaced with a stainless or Bright Zinc plated item. and every part has been removed. stripped. painted and re-assembled on the car. I would say that the car is not “Concours” by any means. but is an extremely good. useable classic car that. if looked after. will be an appreciating classic car. The car will come with a full MOT. six month RFL. and will have been rolling road tuned by Peter Burgess. so will be running at peak performance.
