Technical specifications, photos and description:
" NVX 144C was registered to the Ford Motor Company Warley on the 25th November 1965 and did the rounds of the motoring press featuring in the two publications of late 1966. Whilst the car was clearly in its original colour scheme of Ermine White with Sherwood Green stripes at the time of the reviews. it was shortly after these photos were taken that it was converted to Rally Specification and repainted red by Fords Competition Department.
The car was eventually bought by Gowan Bank Motors in Arbroath directly from Fords and subsequently sold to Classic Autosports in June 1977. The car still in its red livery had a full roll cage. works suspension and upgrades but was minus its competition engine which presumably had been removed by Fords prior to its sale. The car had clearly been campaigned and showed that a number of major repairs had been carried out.
David Barnett fitted a new lotus engine and after using it himself for a few years consigned it to the back of his workshop to under go restoration. which he never got round to.
I bought the car from David in 2010 after a visit to see him and then went about a bare metal restoration and conversion to build an FIA Appendix K race car capable of competing in the U2TC Race at the 2012 Silverstone Classic and the 50th anniversary of the Lotus Cortina in 2013.
The car which had been stored for over 30 years was in poor condition. so the restoration was complicated with many panels having to be replaced. "It is most well known for competing in the past 2 Silverstone classic events etc.
