1967 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster

Stingrays are commonly found in the shallow coastal waters of temperate seas. They spend the majority of their time inactive, partially buried in sand, often moving only with the sway of the tide. When they are inclined to move, most stingrays swim by undulating their bodies like a wave; others flap their sides like wings. The tail may also be used to maneuver in the water, but its primary purpose is protection. When swimming under duress, they can propel themselves incredibly fast and nimble through the water.

Here we see a 1967 Corvette with the "stinger hood". Born as a power example Corvette with a matching numbers 327ci engine and now an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and 4-speed Muncie. It has the classic Sting Ray look. Nimble, very fast, and the look from 1967, Harley Earl's team was definitely at the top of their game, and this car is at the top link of the wow factor chain.

ExteriorSilver Pearl painstakingly applied shows well but has various inclusions and sanding marks especially in the fender gills. A stinger hood, red line tires, rally wheels with deep dish trim rings, and working hidden headlights this car is A plus. Wonderful to the ear and eyes, the factory side pipes are present, and add a nice contrast to the split front and rear chrome bumpers. The shark gill front quarter vents add a little menacing look and some side texture. A new black convertible top has been put on and works flawlessly. This car also comes with a matching fiberglass hardtop which when on the car takes on a sporting classy look.

InteriorA black set of low back bomber style vinyl buckets and dash covering, as well as center console armrest and chromed shift lever are virtually spotless. The standard Corvette "2 hump dash" houses the instrument cluster on the driver's side, and the arched door glovebox on the passenger side. A vertical divider running from the console to the dash, houses the sideways AM/FM radio, and a clock. Flooding the floor and back storage compartment is beautiful deep pile black loop pile carpeting with no marks or fades. Finally, a wood rimmed steering wheel is fronting the drivers eyebrow part of the dash.

DrivetrainNumbers matching 327 cubes L79 V8 grace this fully restored and beautiful original looking engine bay. It is shoehorned in with its red/orange GM painted block, and matte finish cast aluminum ribbed valve coverings. Hoses and wiring are supple and like new and all black paint is looking wonderfully patinated throughout. An Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor replaces the original, but the consignor has the original rebuilt carburetor in a box that will come with this car. (he said he finds the Edelbrock to be more reliable!). A numbers matching Muncie P7R07 4-speed manual transmission is on back, and a 3:36 posi rear axle is original and on.

UndercarriageJust like the topside, all buttoned up with no rust, solid structural rust free steel and floor pans and rockers. Independent coil springs with concentric springs are in front, and for the rear is independent rear suspension with a frame mounted differential unit, double universal jointed tubular axles and transverse multi leaf springs. Disc brakes on all 4 corners and of course the side pipes handle the exhale.

Drive-AbilityIt is wonderful to be in the Silver Pearl, and surrounded by black interior with a shark look, stinger hood, and 327ci awaiting my foot to tickle the throttle. And I did and then some on the test track where it performed swimmingly. I did notice the wipers were nonfunctional during my test drive, and the signal stalk needed to be held for the left blinker action to work. But no matter, I wanted to listen to the 8 cylinders working in unison, and the throaty side exit exhaust.

A nicely redone example with a gorgeous interior. Sitting in this car brings you back to the showroom in 1967, and you can almost harken back to 1967 and the salesman putting the pressure on to take it home to the little lady, (who is probably going to bonk you over the head with a frying pan if you did, but you gotta luv the 60's)! Cranking the 327ci V8 4bbl over and pushing the throttle to the floor will have you smelling rubber and avoiding said pan. Put the top down and get some air in your hair. Or use the hardtop to go out to dinner.
