1979 MERCEDES 300CD

Here is a stunning 1979 Mercedes 300CD Diesel. This car is in excellent condition inside and out. One owner for most of its life (up until 119k miles). Car is smooth with NO creaks or raddles over bumps. Maintains excellent gas mileage and turns heads everywhere I go. 123k original car-fax verified miles.

The interior is trimmed in black MB-Tex with matching door panels and carpeting. Amenities include power windows, carpeted floor mats, and cruise control, the latter of which does not work. The air-conditioning system has been updated to a computer-based system that uses the factory controls. AC blows cold and is comfortable to drive even on the hottest days here in California. There is also an after-market radio installed with blue-tooth music and phone.

There is no rust on this car. It was most always garaged and has never left California (although it was titled/registered in Utah due to Tax purposes). Non-smoker and no pets. Interior is super clean and smells good inside.

I am a car guy who owns an Automotive Body Shop here in Los Angeles California. I have always admired the engineering behind these classic Mercedes Diesels. My dad owned one when I was a kid and I hoped to get one as an adult. I came across this car at a salvage auction. It was hit in the front bumper/ hood/ and fender area.  I studied the history behind this car and I knew that I had to have it no matter the cost. I also wanted the repair to be as good as possible and did NOT want to use aftermarket and or bondo filed replacement parts. I bought a super clean donor car that was hit in the rear with a perfect front end-in the same color as this car. I used the parts from the donor vehicle to complete the repair on this vehicle. If you would like to see accident pictures or want more information about the car, google the vin#. I also have additional pictures from the repair process upon request.

Once the body work was complete, most of the car was repainted using Dupont paint and Dupont Clear-Coat. These are high-quality materials that will last for the life of the car. The final step was the pin-striping which I had a specialist come out and do. In addition to the repair work, I also changed the oil/ filter/ tires/ fuel filter and battery.

All in all this car is in EXCELLENT condition. The exterior is near perfect, and the interior looks like no one ever sat in it before. The engine runs smooth, and the car is comfortable to drive. Please keep in mind though that this is a 40-year old car and there are certain idiosyncrasies associated with its age.  The rubbers surrounding the windshield and doors are cracking. The rear windows are slow to move up and down. The gas gauge jumps from time to time but ultimately lands back where it should. While the air-conditioning does blow cold (and keeps cool inside) the venting system forces 50% of the air up and 50% of the air towards the occupants. Some of the interior wood trimmings are aftermarket and mismatched. The dash-board has small cracks, common on these older Mercedes. The radio works great with music paired from your phone, but the antenna does not go up and down so AM/FM stations do not work.
