Model History

The first truly modern MG. the MGA of 1955 was leagues ahead of anything the company had yet produced. their other post-war cars being nothing more than restyled pre-war designs. Derived from MG designer Syd Enever?s streamlined 1952 Le Mans car. the beautifully sleek and understated body was the equal of anything the Italians had to offer and even made Jaguars XK120 roadster (to which it bore a passing resemblance) look lardy by comparison. Of traditional body-on-frame design. the MGA also had a notably rigid structure devoid of the scuttle-shake that plagues so many other soft-tops. This is thanks to a triangulated bulkhead design that is not found on any other production sportscar. allied to a massively stiff chassis. Throw in its direct. vice-free rack and pinion steering. plus a great racing pedigree. and it's no wonder that the MGA has acquired such a devoted fan club over the years. Initially fitted with a 1. 00cc engine. the MGA was upgraded to 1. 00cc spec in 1959 bringing an extra 7bhp and increasing top speed to 101mph. The MGA remained in production until 1962 when it was replaced by the softer and rather less inspiring MGB. by which time 101. 00 had been sold. the vast majority to the US market.

A new heater matrix has been fitted. new brake master cylinder and overhauled brake system. new exhaust etc. etc. the list goes on and on.

Wheels. Tyres & Brakes

The steel disc wheels have all been sand blasted and repainted. new tyres and tubes have been fitted all round.

Engine & Transmission

The original straight-4 B-Series 1489cc engine has just undergone a complete rebuild as part of the recommissioning. new clutch fitted and the gearbox operates with ease she is a joy to drive. All ancillaries have been replaced and a new recored radiator fitted.

Summary

Now fully re-commissioned after being stored since 1992

First registered in London 24th December 1957. this MGA 1500 has only had 5 previous owners.

There is very little history with the car but it has clearly been restored at some time and is in very sound condition throughout with a repainted body and chassis.

This lovely little roadster is now ready to go and be enjoyed for years to come with nothing further needing to be done. She will come with 12 months MOT as piece of mind for the new owners.
