1956 CADILLAC Fleetwood Deville Classic Chevy Caddy V8 Project 56 American

 I am advertising the car on behalf of my father.

My father has a number of classic cars that we are trying to reduce. He has too many projects to handel. This listing is for my fathers 1956 Cadillac. I believe it is a Fleetwood but may be referred to as Deville but to be clear it is a sedan. 5 door. The car was on the road last in 2004 so it is not a complete restoration.

My father referrers to the car as a time warp car! We believe it is original paint and has no filler and very minimal rust! The car is in amazing condition for its age but like any car of this era it does need some slight tidying up. The chrome is in fairly good condition. Some areas will need slight attention but mostly you will get away with a good clean! The body panels are very solid. Since she has been sitting at my fathers place it has started to blister on the boot lid. this is pictured. This i think was cause by some damp in the boot/ trunk. I have clean it out and the metal is very solid!

When my father bought the car it had no engine or gearbox in the car. He fitted the vehicle with a 6. 6 litre Bentley mulsanne engine. running on twin SU N/A. The engine fits surprisingly well. She runs and drive under her own steam. The engine runs up to temp great and sounds awsome! The engine bay does need a little bit of work. The PAS is not connected. some wiring needs to be done other than some small niggly jobs she is pretty ready for road use. My father tells me that the engine is very similar in many ways and that Bentley originally designed Cadillac's engines. All i can say is that it is well suited for the nature of the car and has many readily available parts unlike the original Cadillac engine.

Underneath she seems very solid and i can see that she has a new stainless steel exhaust. The steering seems a bit vague and i have tracked it down to a tie rod ball joint. I have looked online and seen rebuild kits for $200. I beleive the brakes were done just before my father got the vehicle in 2009.

In the boot there was a load of spare parts. She even has the replacement drivers (smaller) window which is perspex at the moment.

The Caddy is very complete. She is almost completely original apart from the engine. She is MOT'd and TAXed (historically) meaning that she is theoretically road legal.

I will state that the numberplate may not be for sale on the vehicle.
