89G Renault 5 Monaco 1.4 Auto. Exceptional condition. No advisory MOT. 90 photos

1989G Renault 5 Monaco 1.4 Automatic.

A very rare car in exceptional condition. Full Monaco spec including leather trim, electric windows, power steering, central locking. No advisory MOT to 29th June 2022. 50,777 miles recorded.

The car has just undergone careful and comprehensive recommissioning after being in dry storage since 2003.

Brakes were stripped down, all caliper and brake cylinder pistons removed, checked and cleaned, brake shoes and pads cleaned and checked (it appeared to have had new pads and shoes just before storage). Brakes rebuilt, set up and fresh brake fluid flushed through and bled. Fuel system completely drained, tank cleaned (it's plastic so no corrosion, just old fuel and slight sediment cleaned out) new flexi fuel lines and fuel filter fitted. Carburetor stripped, ultrasonic cleaned and rebuilt. Spark plugs appeared to have done few miles and distributor cap, rotor and leads were found to be in good condition New engine oil, oil filter, air filter, battery and four new tyres fitted and balanced. Spare is a steel wheel with an old but still usable tyre, original jack and wheel brace are with the car. The underside of the car was cleaned, some localised areas where the original underseal had started to deteriorate have been wire brushed and had a light coat of black waxoyle applied. The car is not slopped up with thick underseal. The result of this work is a great driving Renault 5 with a no advisory MOT.

Body and paintwork are excellent for the year of the car with very few minor imperfections (close up, detailed photos have been taken) no signs of filler. The alloy wheels are in very good condition. The interior is a nice place to be and is in very nice condition. There is very light creasing to the leather at the side of the driver's seat. There is a stain on the carpet in the rear luggage area (photographed). It still has the Monaco zip-up suitcase under the rear parcel shelf. All instruments and controls are working.

Supplied new by Reg Vardy Renault of Sunderland, the original dealer number plates are still fitted. All original owner's handbooks and wallet are present plus some early service receipts. Its first 6000 mile service at the main dealer cost £58! The recorded mileage of 50,777 isn't documented but the condition of the car suggests it is correct (in fact it drives and presents like a lower mileage car).

This was a car I bought to keep but circumstances now dictate I need to reduce my collection. The car is at my home, near Durham City, postcode area DH6 just two miles from junction 61 A1M.
