MG has a famous history with supercharged sports cars. br/>particularly in the pre war era. This post war 1971 supercharged MG
BGT offered today. started life with a standard 1800cc engine unit.
It was built as the sister and tow car to a V8 Sebring version also
offered by the vendor within this sale.

Our vendor states: "In February 2006. my son and I had the idea to
build a powerful tow car for its sister car. our MGB GT V8 Sebring
Racer we were also building; so another early MGB GT was procured
but we had to make it a good looking reliable car to match the
Racer. The engine and gearbox were removed and the engine bay sand
blasted then sprayed metallic Dark British Racing Green. The engine
was rebuilt with the head gas flowed and the pistons replaced for
ones suitable for supercharging. A NOS (New Old Stock) Shorrock
142B supercharger kit was fitted along with a LCB manifold and big
bore exhaust. The gearbox was replaced with an overdrive version.
The car was then test driven to check setup and that we were happy
(and we were. very happy!). She was then stripped out. the
suspension overhauled and up rated Spax adjustable shock absorbers
fitted to the rear with new springs. front shock absorbers and anti
roll bars to the front. Minimal rust was found to the body shell;
however. what was found was removed and the necessary high quality
repairs undertaken. We thought that to remove the bumpers would
enhance the looks. however. not only were the bumpers removed but a
steel Sebring front valance was fabricated and a glassfibre Sebring
rear panel was fitted to further improve the looks. An MGC fibre
glass bonnet was added to clear the supercharger's carburettor. The
car was then shipped to Faircharm Restorations for preparation and
re-sprayed in Dark Metallic racing Green to match its sister
car. "

The vehicle is only being offered as our vendor is retiring to his
yacht and will therefore no longer have the land based storage at
his home. At the time of writing. the car was not quite complete
but is currently being fitted out. In addition. a dual point
Mallory distributor will be fitted to enable accurate timing curve
for the supercharger to be set. The file accompanying the car has
receipts for items purchased. including the receipt for the
Shorrock Supercharger from Alf Hagon of London for the conversion. br/>a detailed build book as well as the UK registration
document.

The vendor advises that the works required should be completed by
the time of sale and anticipates that it may arrive with a fresh
MoT test certificate. When one considers the specification and
works carried out. this supercharged MG represents excellent value. br/>given the estimate. and is surely an opportunity not to be
missed.
