EXTERIOR
This handsome 540 is presented in its original factory coat of Cosmos black paintwork. The paintwork still retains a sharp metallic flake and deep shine under our showroom lights. On close inspection there are some light stone chips to be found towards the front of the car and also the bottom of the door corners are just starting to show their age. however this is nothing unexpected from original paintwork of this vintage. The front and rear plastic bumper trim is free from any unsightly scuffs or damage. as is the waist-line trim around the car. Both front and rear lights remain free from any cracks or moisture.

INTERIOR
Seated in the 540 the interior is awash with Light Silver Grey Leather. the perfect contrast to the black paintwork. The seats still feel soft and supportive. the leather remains in excellent clean condition with no wear to be found to bolsters. The front driver and passenger arm-rests certainly make this 540 a comfortable cruiser. The dark wood trim laced throughout the cockpit and centre console is in excellent condition with no lacquer damage or cracks to be found whatsoever. The grey carpet remains clean and protected with a full set of matching over-mats in the foot-wells.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 4. 0 V8 engine fires into life and idles correctly up to temperature with a wonderfully smooth soundtrack. The mechanics of the car are in fine order. the last service carried out was the all-important inspection 2 service at 71k miles. The 5-speed automatic gearbox feels silky smooth to operate. pulling through the gears with ease and handling the engines power perfectly.

WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
The 540 still sits on its original 16" BMW alloy wheels which all appear to be in their factory paint finish. On close inspection there are a few light scuffs to be found however nothing that detracts from the cars over-all good looks. The wheels are shod in a pair of Firestone tyres on to the front and Dunlop SP tyres on the rear. all have plenty of tread remaining. The brakes provide excellent performance. feeling powerful and responsive. The fluid was replaced during the last service at 71k miles.

HISTORY FILE
The BMW was first registered in August 1995 and sold through its supplying dealer Royal Ascot Garage who also carried out the running-in service at 1. 75 miles. The 540 has since always been serviced by BMW main dealers or approved specialists. the last being an inspection 2 in September 2012 by BMW specialists Barkers Motor Works. In the history file there are many invoices for service work and replacement parts. as well as every MOT certificate kept to verify the mileage. The original BMW document holder is still present. containing the booklets and owner's manuals.
