1934 Rolls-Royce 20/25 Sports Saloon by Thrupp for sale
Current customer rating: (321 votes ) based onThis is one of the best looking 20/25's we have owned. it is a nice older restoration in exactly the condition you would like to find it. GMD64 is a 1934 Rolls-Royce 20/25 Sports Saloon by Thrupp and Maberly. It was sold new to Norther Ireland and is the desirable 4 light version and one of a very limited run of "Mini Continentals" It runs and drives but has been in storage for a while so would benefit from a certain recommissioning before being used regularly.
The 20/25 was launched to much acclaim in 1929 and was in production for seven years during which time 3. 27 units were produced. Various detail improvements were made to the 20/25 during its production life. the most significant being an increase in compression ratio in 1930 and 1932. The latter year also saw the introduction of synchromesh for the third and fourth gears. thermostatically controlled radiator grille shutters. a one-shot centralised lubrication system and an electric fuel gauge. Contemporary road tests commented on the exquisite precision of all the controls. one saying that the car behaved so beautifully that it was difficult to drive badly. Flexibility and braking were outstanding and the chassis proved surprisingly brisk. 0-50mph taking approximately 20 seconds. an impressive time for the car's class and size.
Although designed with the owner/driver in mind. many 20/25s ended up with rather formal coachwork. thus it is nice to find a car with a proper sports saloon body. this is a most attractive car. a sports saloon for the price of a limousine. a great purchase and very good value in the current market. Manufactured in 1934. this beautifully appointed motor car is finished in the most attractive two tone grey. highlighting the respected British coach builders Thrupp and Maberly lines. Combined with the wheel discs this car has a very sporting and sleek look. The opulent interior is finished in grey hide with grey carpeting and a contrasting black dashboard with ample room for 4.
Undoubtedly one of the most attractive Rolls-Royce 20/25s produced. this car encapsulates the glamour of the early 1930's and will provide its new owner with stylish pre-war motoring.
