1966 SUNBEAM ALPINE SERIES 5 GT WITH OVERDRIVE, METAL HARDTOP

For sale my dads1966 Sunbeam Alpine GT Series 5 with the original metal hardtop & overdrive.

The Series 5 incorporated the modifications and design improvements of the earlier Series 1 - 4 cars and the GT model was the most expensive option offering the practicality of a removable hardtop and four seats. Also fitted as standard on the GT model are disc brakes and a heater.

The car was removed from the road in 1986 then stored in a dry barn for over 20 years until my dad purchased it in 2010.

The Alpine has had extensive welding done to the underside including both sills replaced. rear arches. floor sections and central box structure.

I will list some of the work that has been carried out.

·        New braking system including servo. master cylinder. rebuild front callipers. copper pipes & hoses.

·        New front spax adjustable shock absorbers. new rear shock absorbers.

·        New Battery & cut off switch. halogen headlight. shells etc.

·        New stainless exhaust. facet electric fuel pump & filter.

·        Electronic ignition.

·        Twin choke webber conversion.

·        Five new tyres less then 2000 miles ago.

·        Comes with a serviceable soft top & frame.

The car comes with the original old style logbook plus the up to date V5. The current MOT expires in October 2014. some history old mot's etc lots of lots of receipts. photos

Mechanically the engine. gearbox and back axle are in excellent condition. the overdrive works without fault and operates on 3rd and 4th gears.

The underside of the car is very solid & in very good order as you can see from the photo's also been extensively protected with waxoyl.

There are some points which a new owner may wish to improve.

·        The seats have been repaired in the past & the padding has gone soft. (see photo)

·        Some scratches. blemishes on the paintwork.

·        Needs new doors seals.

Please be aware this is not a show car but a car that can be used & improved if you want to over time but is very solid & has had a lot of time & money spent on it to make it a good useable series 5 alpine.
