Beautiful 1978 Daimler/Jaguar Sovereign Series 2 XJ6 4.2 - Low Mileage

Welcome to the auction for my beautiful 1978 Daimler Sovereign 4. 2. This is the Series 2 model with the chrome bumpers. and being 1978 it is one of the last cars before the plastic bumpered Series 3 cars went into production.  
As can be seen from the photo's this is an amazing example. finished in a lovely dark maroon. The bodywork is in brilliant condition with absolutely no rust or dents. and the Kent alloy wheels really complete the look. With the chrome bumpers this car really looks the part. and would not look out of place at any car show.
The engine runs very well. as can be seen in the attached video. When started from cold it quickly settles into a steady idle. and holds around 40psi of oil pressure. I have replaced the plugs and leads. set the mixture. checked the timing and balanced the carbs. I also replaced the troublesome AED unit so she reliable starts from cold every time.  
Previous to my ownership the gaskets on all the lights and door handles were replaced. as were the front and rear screen seals. I have a pile of receipts for the car to show the huge amounts of time and effort that have gone into the car to get it where it is today.
The mileage is a low 54. 91 and i have a lot of old MOT's and tax discs to prove this. It really shows as the suspension and brakes are all really tight. There's very little wind noise whilst driving and it really feels nice. The interior is a lovely place to be. smells exactly as a Daimler should. leather and wood. There are no rips or tears in the seats and the leather is very soft and supple. The headlining has sagged slightly but not noticeably so.
The Daimler has just passed it's MOT. with just an advisory on a slightly perished steering rack gator which I'll replace if i have the time before the auction ends. She also has a full stainless steel exhaust fitted.
Bad points? There are very few. The chrome on the rear bumper/overriders has some pitting but barely noticeable. the electric aerial does not work. and the engine bay could use a clean. I've tried to show this as best as i can in the photos.
In Summary. this Daimler is already exceptional. but with a small amount of work could be one of the best. Series 2 cars are becoming rare so this is a good investment for the future. Buy it now and enjoy it. she needs nothing for the next year.
