This 1968 Plymouth Road Runner is well-documented, real-deal, numbers matching Hemi car and is an absolute show-stopper! In 1968, Plymouth introduced the Roadrunner as a modestly priced yet high-performance muscle car. With the Road Runner, you got the desired high-performance without having to shell out the extra money for the top-of-the-line GTX. To use Warner Bros.' trademarked Road Runner cartoon on the car, Plymouth paid $50,000 and another $10,000 to develop the "Beep Beep" horn that became an iconic feature throughout the years. In its most basic configuration, the Road Runner was offered with Moper's 383 Cubic Inch V8. However, if price was no object, the purchaser of a new Road Runner could have paid $714.30 to upgrade to the famous 426 Cubic Inch Hemi V8, which was adapted from Mopar's racing engine and the only optional engine for the '68 Road Runner. Of the 44,500+ Road Runners produced in 1968, just 1,019 were ordered with the famous Hemi motor. This particular Hemi Road Runner comes to us from a local collector who has owned the car for nearly 20 years and has a build sheet and Galen Grovier Fender Tag Decode Report. Under the hood on this '68 Plymouth Roadrunner is the numbers matching 426 Cubic Inch Hemi V8 with dual 4 barrel carburetors that pushed out 425 horsepower in its day. The Hemi engine is mated to a number matching Torqueflite Automatic Transmission with a column mounted shifter that was a $38.95 upgrade back in 1968. The trunk, engine, and underside have all been recently detailed and look fantastic! This Hemi Roadrunner sits on 4 Redline F70x15 Bias-Ply Tires, just like when this car was ordered new. With a Sure Grip Posi Rear End, you can be sure that the rubber sticks to the pavement with this J-Code mean machine. The exterior on this Plymouth Road Runner has been refinished in its original Yellow color (SS1 code) that truly stands out in the crowd. The black vinyl split-bench seat in the front and black vinyl bench in the rear (H4X code) are in superb shape and are correct for the car. The dash, door panels, and steering wheel are all in their stock configuration and present well. The dash is equipped with a 120 MPH Speedometer, Alternator Gauge, Fuel Gauge, and Temperature Gauge, and the beep beep horn works great! Whether you're looking for your first classic muscle car or you're looking to add to collection of Mopars, this 1968 Plymouth Road Runner Hemi is the car for you. Give us a call today!
