1966 Chevrolet Chevy II Super Sport with its numbers matching “REAL” L-79 (engine suffix ZI & casting #3791362) 327 c.i. 350 H.P. High Performance “Corvette” engine with 11:1 compression ratio domed pistons, ‘Winters' foundry aluminum intake manifold, M-21 close ratio 4-speed, and 12-bolt posi differential housing 4.10 gears.Mileage is accurate at 66,000 and every option appears to match the car and date coding.

There is a letter from the NCRS (National Corvette Restorers Society) verifying the car was originally shipped to Gordon Wilson Chevrolet in Murry, Utah on 5/20/1966 (see photo)

The ‘Cowl' Trim tag decodes the car as it is…. A Chevy II Nova SS V-8 (18), 2-door coupe (37), built in the Willow Run, Michigan plant (WRN), painted Lemonwood Yellow (Y-Y), built the third week in May (05C), with Black bucket Seats (765).Options include Tinted windshield & 4-speed transmission (W2L).

According to various resources there were only 3,547 Chevy II L-79 4-speeds produced.They were an inexpensive ($2600.00) and light weight (about 2500 lbs) stop light ‘bandit'.

As the photos and video show, the car is immaculate throughout and is a strong performer.The body and floors appear straight and rust free.There is no evidence of bubbling or bodywork anywhere.Age of paint is unknown but appears to be a 2-stage urethane.Glass, stainless, and chrome are in excellent condition.

The exterior and interior lights and factory gauges function normally.After-market Stewart/Warner tachometer, oil temp, oil pressure, water temp, and voltmeter were added by a prior owner as well as the Hurst shifter & Line Loc.The tire sizes are not the original 14” items but 15” American Torque thrust style wheels with Goodyear Comp T/A's 205/60R front and 225/75R rear.

Current owner has had the car 3 years and replaced or repaired the following:

The entire front end with bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, shocks, control arm bushings, new door panels, under chassis headers, 2 ½” exhaust, updated AM/FM/USB radio & speakers, new outside mirrors, rebuilt factory Holley carb (comes with car) replaced with Edelbrock AVS2 650cfm, Pertronics distributor, new aluminum radiator & shroud, water pump, rear shock mount plates, rear spring bushings, and the front bucket seats were reupholstered.
