Early 1961 Mercedes 220 SE Coupe. Originally 040 Black exterior with Ivory leather interior. This would be a great car to drive and enjoy while restoring it.

The service booklet shows that it was serviced by Stahl Motors in Monterey. CA in its beginning years.  Eldon Davis was the service writer who took care of the car and still works there as service manager.  It lived its life in that area up till now. making it a California car.

Car runs and drives well. Desirable 4 speed floor shifter works well. Does not overheat. New oil change and filter. Brakes are recent and like new front and back. Recent rubber seals on windshield and rear window. New voltage regulator. 2 new fuel lines. Blinker relay was replaced.

All lights. horn. and heater work. Dash and interior lights work and are very bright. Comes with its original Becker Europa Highway Hi-Fi. but it does not turn on. The radio and clock might be disconnected. Will need a new speedometer cable. but the car hasn't been driven more than 150 miles since it went out a couple months ago. The air filter is not currently installed but is included with the car. It will need the rubber flex tube for installation.

The ivory leather seats will need to be reupholstered. The headliner came un-tucked by the rear window when they re-did the rubber seal. Sheepskin seatcovers were sent to the cleaners and replaced.  Kangol magnetic-latch seat belts were installed in front. There is a set of seat belts that were already installed in the back.

The exterior color was originally black. Has an older re-paint in yellow that shows signs of age but looks alright from a distance. All glass looks clean and clear. Brightwork inside and out is in good condition. The bumpers have some pitting. There are some dings on the rear quarter of the roof and one on the driver's front fender.

Original 13" wheels with beauty rims. Tires are good and have a lot of tread left.

Has some paint bubbling on the bottom edge of the driver's side. Underside of the car is clean. except for two holes a bit bigger than dimes on the driver's footwell; one of these seems to have been made by a previous owner. There are also some openings in the driver's side trunk well. as pictured.

This car belonged to a friend of the family but is now in my name. Currently registered and insured with a clean title and pink slip in hand.

Please feel free to ask any questions; we will answer to the best of our ability. We welcome any inspections.
