1959 ARMSTRONG SIDDELY STAR SAPPHIRE for sale

1959 Armstrong Siddely Star Sapphire being fully automatic with power steering.   This is an increasingly rare car. and in this condition rarely come up for sale.

The 4 litre engine has been overhauled and the head has been upgraded to run on unleaded petrol.   The automatic gearbox has also been overhauled and the car runs very smooth.   The brakes were renewed about two years ago and updated with BMW 5 series servo. so they are better than when the car was new.   The Star has had new front shock absorbers. plus an electric fuel pump fitted to replace the old mechanical type.

The leather interior has been refurbished to a very high standard. including a new headlining.   The carpets were renewed about two years ago and are in great condition.   To keep the original period appearance. a CD/tuner has been fitted behind the original radio front. so it looks like a 1950 radio.   The woodwork is in good condition with no fading or damage to the door caps and dash.

All four tyres have plenty of tread and are radials.   Work was done to the steering and the ball joints replaced.   At the same time the water hoses and fan belts on the cooling system were replaced.   The heater radiator was refurbished but the tap that adjusts the heater has not been fitted so the heater is either hot or cold.

The underside of the car has had new sills and work done to both inner rear wings.   Any rust was removed and replaced with new panels and it is now rust free and undersealed.   It does not need any welding done and is MOT'd to September 2014.

The Star come with some servicing bills. old MOT's. original parts catalogue. original worshop manual and owners handbook.

Good Star Sapphire's have fetched upwards of £12. 00. so to buy this one with very minor work to do on the heater is a good investment for a very useable classic car that is tax exempt.   The next owner will not be disappointed or find any nasty surprises with their purchase.

Did you do the brake servo job? I'm restoring a Star and looking at options for replacing the servo. I didn't think BMW's used a remote servo...how did you fit it?
