1967 Jaguar Mk2 2,4 Litre Manual/Overdrive

One of the greatest saloon cars of all time, the compact Jaguar Mk2, and here is one of the nicest in captivity having been extensively restored over a number of years but which could have been completed just yesterday judging by its stunning appearance, will let the accompanying photographs of the exterior and interior speak for themselves.

The money expended on this car has been very substantial, as it involved hundreds of hours of professional expertise, so the final bill can only be imagined.

All usual Jaguar luxury refinements with polished burr walnut, new headlining, brightwork all rechromed, reconditioned chassis framework, jacking points etc, unmarked leather hide upholstery, and a total back to bare metal, glass-out respray in silver blue metallic. Unusually for a car of this vintage, seatbelts front & rear have been fitted.

Manual steering but modern electric PAS system  could be added for approx £2,500.

2,4-Litre engine which has recently been fully tuned. Manual gearbox with fully functioning overdrive, it also displays only 53,000 miles which may well be accurate, certainly the Jag's present condition lends credence to such moderate usage.

Recent expenditure of over 5,000 pounds shows the Jag has been fastidiously cared for.

All books & tools. A very special car.

Marque Info

The Mk 2 Jaguar, introduced in 1959, was a fast and capable saloon. It came with a 2.4, 3.4 or 3.8 litre XK engine. The 3.4 Litre and 3.8 Litre cars were fitted with twin SU HD6 carburettors and the 2.4 Litre with twin Solex carburettors. Compared to the Mark 1, the appearance of the car was transformed by an increase of 18% in cabin glass area. The car was re-engineered above the waistline, slender front pillars allowed a wider windscreen and the rear window almost wrapped around to the enlarged side windows. The radiator grille was amended and larger side, tail and fog lamps repositioned. Inside, a new heating system was fitted, with ducted air to the rear compartment. There was an improved instrument layout that became standard for all Jaguar cars until the XJ Series II. From its introduction, the Jaguar MkII developed a strong following in many walks of life. With wonderful styling and a race-bred engine and four-wheel disc brakes and the ability to carry five passengers at great speed, the car proved to be a great success.

'One of the most impressive sights today is the rapid and purposeful progress of a Mark 2 Jaguar on a motorway, eating up the miles in the fast lane. Like the nose of a bullet, the rounded frontal shape looks right for high speed, and the sheer velocity attained is usually exhilarating.' - Autocar June 1964
