Welcome to this readvertisement for my most recent Impulse Buy this 1983 Alfa GTV6 - as Impulses go this was a good one but my car plans have changed.

I've always wanted one of these (as well as many other cars I can't afford) and this came onto my radar when I was actually looking at a couple of other cheaper 80s cars after selling my ultra rare Gen 1 Prelude. I did some research and bought this one.

About a week later Chris Harris drove an identical one on Top Gear (the Octopussy car in the James Bond cars feature) and loved it saying good ones are approaching £30,000. I'll pause there, felt good but just to be clear this is not a £30,000 car so don't expect one - It could easily be a c. £25,000 car but you'd need to invest a few thousand on getting the new front wings fitted (see below), some other minor bodywork as listed below and maybe engine detailing. It does have Fibreglass front wings fitted really well over 20 years ago, but nobody so far has noticed until its been pointed out to them. If it reaches £12,500 it will come with the two brand new genuine Alfa front wings that cost €3,000 - can only get these abroad (as I did and thats not an easy task post 31 Jan!). Lower offers considered but I'll sell wings separately unless we agree otherwise.

I got it through the Mot in March (previously expired Dec 2020) with some minor electrical work (get indicators and horn working) plus new track rods and a steering boot. Tyres were an advisory but at that stage I'd already bought and had refurbished a set of OE 15 inch GTV wheels and had new Toyo Proxy tyres fitted to all.

Beyond then I've been driving it occasionally, taken it to the Prescott Hill Climb school where it performed faultlessly - was treated with respect (even though they told me to go faster!)- video to prove - and used it when I can - which isn't that often albeit it does get a couple of runs a week. I also have another classic that I've done loads of work on and a motorbike and since winter ended (mid May) I've generally been choosing those two over the Alfa (loyalty perhaps?), Having reflected a bit, I  now plan to do some more track days/hill climbs and am looking for something cheaper and maybe more in my comfort zone to fix if any issue do arise.

Good bits

Its a GTV6

Its solid all round and with a current MOT

Mileage is about 162,000 but supported by documentation showing extensive regular maintenance over the years.

Extensive invoiced history file from 80s to date (gap in early naughties when it was off the road). Two top end refurbishments.

Cam belt replaced June 2021

Extensive refurbishment/recommissioning less than 2,000 miles ago including engine work, new brakes and other work - three page list/invoice included from a highly reputable marque specialist who has since helped me to tackle the initial minor pre mot issues

HPI clear

It starts, goes and stops as it should and sounds lovely

Rust really is minimal up top, underneath it was cleaned up and preserved in 2013 still solid

Sunroof works, aperture rust free just minimal rust on panel itself

Basically needs very little to keep going as is

Excellent Mustard colour cloth interior, few minor wear spots and one what could be fag burn. A couple of the plastic trim inserts have broken but looks generally tidy.

Bad bits

Fibreglass front wings as previously noted - difficult to spot even close up

NSF window a bit slow to go up/down

Aerial broken but new one comes with it, roof aerial but I'm not brave enough to start messing with headlining

New DAB radio stopped working last week, think power to radio gone

Could do with some detailing in engine compartment to smarten up

Minor rust but nothing structural, the two bits round screen could do with addressing next winter and the NSR arch has very minor bubbling but is solid. Other than that nothing of note, boot floor solid with one old repair in wheel well. Inner wings solid but could do with some tidying at some stage - repair panels still available for this and Arch should you want to do these.

I have a few more pics than I can upload here, plus a couple of videos of it running I can share with Whatsapp although sometimes it just doesn't work for me!

Obviously no warranty is implied or given but this car could be driven anywhere home as is, if you wanted it delivered I do have a friend  who picks cars up and delivers nationwide who I would personally trust to do so properly, albeit there would obviously be a cost involved.

I'm not sensible enquiries/offers will be considered (with or without the new Steel Wings) - the couple of genuine viewings I have had have been very positive albeit both admitted they struggled to find anything to knock car down to within their budgets.

I've been asked about PXs - I'd  originally said no as I've spotted two cars for sale that I'd like to follow up on) but am open to suggestions within ebay rules - ideally nothing post 1980s or early 90s though.  I like V8 SD1s, TR7s, MGBs, Capris (60s/70s/80s British cars), Audi Coupe GTs, E21 BMWs, some Jap GTis......I do however have a soft spot for a reasonably priced MGTF160s....

If you are genuinely interested just contact me, if we are poles apart we just move on.

Car can be seen nr J12/13 M40 Warwickshire. I do work full time so will need sensible notice of viewings to allow you a proper chance to inspect.

Obviously nobody drives it apart from me unless I get photo ID and proof of fully comp insurance, and it goes nowhere until fully paid for, £200 deposit required if not collecting immediately.

Bank transfer only for balance, deposit can be paid in cash.

Car can be viewed in large lock up if weather inclement.

And finally its listed elsewhere and could be removed at short notice, so view and/or bid soon to avoid disappointment (that's both you and me being disappointed!!)
