History of Jaguar Mk 10 / 420G
Introduced alongside the Jaguar E Type in 1961 as the Mk 10 the Jaguar 420G was the largest Jaguar ever produced measuring 16ft 11ins in length and 6ft 4ins in width. The car was primarily designed for the US market. Initially the car had a 3781cc triple carb straight six engine (as per the E Type) which was enlarged to 4235cc in 1966 when the Mk 10 became the Jaguar 420G - power output was 265bhp (gross)

I have owned this car since 1989 and has been maintained in a roadworthy condition since then. The car has never been restored in any way apart from normal maintenance and part replacement. The car has covered 44. 00 and showed 36. 00 when I purchased the car 24 years ago. The only upgrades I have made are the fitting of rear seat belts and a Motolita wooden steering wheel (both iwithin the last 2 years).
Condition: The car is unrestored and as such has never been resprayed. The paint is OK and presents well if T-Cut but oxidises after a couple of weeks. The chrome is generally good and there are no areas of significant rust. The underside has had minor remedial work for MOT purposes but no major welding. The wood is generally good but parts of the dashboard veneer has faded. The leather is OK - fine in the rear. the front passenger seat is worn and the drivers seat has a tear. The headlining is missing and needs replacement.
Mechanically the car is in good condition. The engine shows 50psi which is commensurate with the car's low mileage. Brakes are good. transmission is good. Tyres and wheels are in good condition - the tyres have less than 2000 miles on them and are 2 years old.
Summary:
A very useable low mileage 420G - not concours but presents well and is reliable. The car would ultimately benefit from a respray and other improvements but is perfectly honest and usable as is. There are currently 114 roadworthy 420G's left in the UK (source: DVLA).
