1921 Sterling Flatbed Stake Truck * Rollbed Trailer Accessory

A true barn find. This truck has been squirreled away since 1978. Only two owners!

The original owner is believed to be the Cooper & Utter Lumber Company of Nashotah. Wisconsin. who bought the truck new in 1921. Please see the attached article about the truck from the April 22. 1922 issue of American Lumberman. It mentions the Cooper and Utter Lumber Co. and even has a picture. In 1978. the lumber company sold the truck to the owner we purchased the truck from. which includes the Bill of Sale for the transaction.

The truck appears to be nearly complete and intact. We have not tried to start the motor. but the motor turns freely and is not stuck. The cab seems to be original and in pretty decent repair. It has brackets on rear wheels for tire chains. The odometer is located in the right front wheel cover. The gas tank and the right hubcap for the trailer are missing. The windshield and right headlight glass are cracked. Includes the original hardcover owner's manual

The most interesting feature of this truck is that it has an innovative (for 1921) roll bed and trailer system. The unit in the bed turns with the trailer as it goes around a corner and makes the loading. unloading. and transporting of lumber much easier for the retail lumberman.

This lumber truck should enhance anyone's private collection or museum.

Will consider trades.
