1982 Vanagon Turbo Diesel. the odometer shows just under 250. 00miles but has been repaired before and works intermittently. The speedometer works properly and will show you accelerating rapidly* (in bus terms) to 90km/hr

This van was purchased new in Quebec. it spent its winters in Arizona. and has the documentation being serviced at VW dealers along the way. It has the Service manual. owners manual. westfalia insert. and documentation included.

It got a major overhaul in 2005. this included a fresh coat of paint in the original doe skin tan colour (roof fibreglass also painted) brand and paint code are included for touchups if you'd like. The paint is best viewed from 5+ feet. the seams were painted over and are starting to crack. details shown in pictures. as are some problem areas around the seams and below the windshield. It cleans up well and looks good going down the road and from few feet away. but is far from perfect.

The tent has been replaced and has no stains or tears. its in excellent condition.

The motor is a 1. 6L Turbo Diesel that has new head gasket. head bolts. . 25mm over pistons. new frost plugs. intermediate shaft bearings. new standard main bearings. resized standard rod bearings. crank polished. all new seals and gaskets. starter rebuilt then has has been turbocharged using a KKK K14 turbo from an AAZ. I have an AAZ long block that donated all the parts that can be included but its in unknown condition so i preferred to run the 1. 6 as i have a much better history on it. The oil pan is the stock diesel one with a 1/2npt bung welded in for oil drain from the turbo. Like most vw's it has the occasional oil drip but i've been trying to fix them as i come across them.

The exhaust manifold is a factory JX unit from Europe

The injectors and pump. hard lines have been rebuilt and are AAZ parts

The injection pump has a shimmed governor spring and is turned up slightly. the waste gate has been adjusted to compensate for the additional fuel and to minimize smoke.

The flywheel has been resurfaced. and new clutch/slave cylinder installed.

Mechanically the van retains its 4 speed transmission and stock gearing. it will happily cruise at 90km/hr and keep up with traffic while returning excellent fuel economy. and accelerate easily to 105-110 for short periords of time. The shifter has the normal vanagon slop. most of it being the ball on the transmission side. these have recently been made available again so it should be able to be cleaned up if you'd like.

The brakes are in very good working order with newer shoes. rotors and pads all around. The rims have been painted to match the van. the chrome is flaking on some of the center caps.

On the outside there is a 3 bar roof rack system installed. with home made gutter mounts (much stronger than those you can buy) mounted to the roof rack is a 100w solar panel. and a large thule style box is included to fit the other side and provide additional storage. A receiver style trailer hitch has been added. and Gowesty mounted awning (no holes drilled) for the ARB awning on the side.

Inside the van you'll find new vinyl flooring. 2x 6 volt coach batteries power a second 12v system. these are isolated from the starting battery with a smart isolator and power their own fuse panel. They are charged by the rooftop solar panel via a charge controller. They also provide power for a set of USB ports for phone charging. an additional cigarette lighter port. and for additional LED interior lighting strips. these are switched via and RV panel in the closet. they provide warm white light without drawing down the starting battery. The driving area has been upgraded with later model seats (more comfortable. not the prettiest) some gowesty cup holders. and an older sony cd deck and cheezy speakers on the floor. The original fridge. stove. water pump and tank are all present and all function as you'd hope.

Being from Canada the van needs a heater to extend its camping season. a Diesel powered Air Top 2000 premium Webasto has been installed under the bench and easily keeps the van warm while using minimal fuel.

Rust: There is none underneath. the floor pans show that they were undercoated when new and are incredibly clean. there are some thin spots behind the tires in the paint but no rot. they can be cleaned up. or a 2 tone with a black lower added (this was my plan. but i'd rather people get an honest view of any potential issues instead of covering them up) on the seam there is beginning to be some staining but should be able to give it a blast with one of the small media pencils. seam seal and touch up paint. I'd rather show it as is than cover up. The drivers windshield has a small bubble below the rubber.
