1986 Dodge Diplomat Police Car

First let's start off by saying per eBay rules all lights. sirens. radios have been disabled and there are cover-up plain white magnetic covers for all graphics on the car.   They were removed only for pictures and car will be sold per eBay rules.

This is an AUTHENTIC AHB Code Dodge Police Car.  318 4 barrel NOT with lean burn system. 727 Automatic transmission. and all the proper sway bars. big alternator. large radiator etc.  It is also restored to its authentic in service status.   The car went into service with the New Jersey State Police car #2852 in Deerfield Township barracks in mid 1986 and served until late 1991.   The car was then given to the Deerfield Township volunteer fire department.   The word FIRE was put over Police on the graphics and everything else was left the same.   The car was then retired in 1998 and purchased by someone in that local area with the intentions for a complete restoration.   For reasons unknown that never happened.   The car sat from 1998 until I purchased it in 2010.   It was brought to Florida on a transport truck in rough running condition.   I cleaned the fuel tank and carburetor. did a complete tune up.   The exhaust system needed help. so I redid it and installed a cherry bomb muffler.   The car is not loud by my standards. but has a nice tone.   We then stripped the body down. fixed the typical police service dents and dings and repainted the car.   We had a local graphics company remake the proper graphics as well as all the cover-ups and “out of service” signs.   The light bar was on the car when I got it and all indications are it was the original bar put on the car in 1986.   The radio. siren. working radar unit are all period correct and matched as best I could with what was originally on the car.  

During the restoration we put all new brakes on the car. serviced the transmission. engine. rear-end and got the car in perfect running condition including the high idle function.   The A/C was serviced and repaired so that it works perfectly. NO BS about adding Freon from time to time.   I put all new BF Goodrich tires on the car and have not put 1000 miles on them.  as well as sourced the proper props. like night stick. hand cuffs. NJ State Police shirt and hat and even a period correct Geiger counter which was standard issue to State Police during the 80's and a period correct bag Motorola cell phone.  We removed the rubber floor and repainted it and reinstalled it. it looks new.

We have only found one large “service vehicle” show to take this car to and it won first place.   The car is not like new. but it's very nice and a piece of law enforcement history.   Our local Sheriff's department knows about the car and over 30 local deputies have come by to have their picture taken with the car.
