The car

Back Ground to the car.

The car was initially  sold by a dealership in  Rossliegh. dinburgh in 1967 then spending most of it's life in the Northwest

The car then passing through 6 more keeper when in 1989. the modifications to the bonnet including de seaming the bonnet. modifying the front and rear arches to take wider  wheel s. the removal of the chrome to achieve the streamlined appearance . he car then was then sold again in 1995 the car then having only two more keepers in the last 17 years. he last keeper  a Wrexham  garage proprietor owning her for  13 years . urchasing the car from H&H Classic car auction at Buxton . s he said saw the car and thought wow! The beauty of the shape in pure simplicity .

6 years ago he took her off the road to carryout work to the vehicle including replacing the drivers floor section . e then decided to do the passenger side as well   along with lots of other mechanical work. and fit the wide D Type Alloy Knock on's due to pressure of work the E type had take a back seat and remained in storage. albeit  properly look after waxoyled. nbsp; wheels off. ater drained . ngine oiled and turned over regulary. and stored in a dehumidified environment.

It was to stay like this until I came on the scene!

The car was then shipped  down to Herefordshire . here we carried out the following . /span>

It was quite amazing actually. when we fitted the engine ancillaries . verhauled the carbs . uel. il and watered her . itted the battery. first push of the ignition button after six years dormant she stared first time!

So condition of the car.

I will be as critical as I can . /span>

Bodywork:

Just one word' lovely ! considering  some 46 years old. she is excellent . the door shut lines the “A” Pillars /”B” Slams . loor sections . ills ( inner and outer)front spider frames . oors . ear wings . alances. bulkheads . ll excellent . n fact the only thing that I can see is a slight little mark on the bonnet bulge . ut nothing that really detracts from the over majesty of the car.

Paintwork:

The overall appearance is lovely with marvellous depth of shine . hilst not perfect . n my humble opinion ( and the thoughts of others) think it is wonderful as it is certainly does not have any issues that I can see that require attention.

Drive Train .

Well the jewel in the crown of the Jaguar is the wonderful XK unit and this particular one is an excellent standard bearer for the breed . ith quite valve gear . turbine smooth in operation . o overheating problems and plenty of grunt !

Gearbox:

Very good . ith no synchro problems and excellent change.

Differential:

Excellent . o knocking joints or wind up.

Brakes |:

Excellent” all replaced along with master cylinder. servo . o require a bit of a push on the pedal until bedded in .

Exhaust.

All good

Wheels /Tyres

Excellent  72 spoke chrome and recent spinners. tyres like new.

Interior:

Stunning! With just the right amount of patina. head lining . oor cards. seating. carpets . rash pad. centre console  etc wonderful.

Electrics:

At the time of writing :all working bar for the original radio.

Anything to do?

The window winder gear on the passenger  side needs attention and that is it

What would I do”

Fit wide rim Dunlop knock on alloy wheels. nd that would be it !

On the road:

There is something about the E Type that when you walk up to the vehicle to jump in and start up. have this feeling I should be donning a flying jacket and leather helmet ! it is the motoring equivalent of the glorious Supermarine Spitfire. he elegance of the bodywork. he magnificence of the 6 cylinder twincam with the triple SU's and then when you lower yourself into the cockpit to be faced by that iconic dashboard . ll toggle swtiches. levers and dials. staring through the huge woodrim wheel at the power bulge in the bonnet that looks like it is stretching out infinitum !

You move the cold start slider up and then push the starter button . his is when you have the urge to shout' tally “ Ho”  angels 15! It is such a sense of occasion .

Once on the road you realise what a wonderful GT the E type really is smooth quiet . xcellent ride quality from its sub frame mounted suspension system.

The other thing that really impressed me was the turn of speed along with a lightness of feel from the  controls.

Conclusion:

Enzo Ferrari's comment on first seeing Malcolm Sayers Design . he most beautiful car in the world”. hat was over 50 years ago and there have been other icons of design in the interim period but in my humble opinion the comment from Enzo still stands today .

                                              THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CAR PERIOD!

Thanks for taking you time to look and the very best of look with your bid!

Please note: the cars I sell are “classic” cars and by nature and age are not of the reliability that is afforded to a modern car (apologies to the classic car enthusiasts for stating the obvious) but with all the best will in the world  whilst I would love then to stay totally reliable. but being old (like myself! )They can breakdown and you should be aware of this. if you have any doubt about classic car ownership or any of these facts kindly refrain from placing a bid on the car.

The car is as usual being sold with “No” Reserve !

Please Remember You Bid to Buy Not to Haggle.

Please note. The description of the vehicle is from my eyes and my opinion. am only human ( I think” ) and could miss something that you might pick up so  you are warmly encouraged to view and inspect the car prior to bidding yourself . I will do my utmost to accommodate you. But once the auction has finished and if you are the winning bidder. you will be expected to conclude the transaction after being given this opportunity to inspect before the auction concludes. Please do not hesitate to call on : 07970383375 to arrange a viewing.

If the winning bidder is not UK Mainland based. it would be possible to deliver the car to a embarkation destination of their choice. once payment is received and the appropriate delivery tariffs have been met. it would be up to the winning bidder to organise the necessary on-going transportation and paperwork.

Please note! With two previous bidders who have had successful bids on other classics I have sold and have been European mainland based. they did not complete the sale quoting. they did not realise the logistics for transportation to the European mainland

Please. Please. Please!

If you are based on the European Mainland and you are going to bid on the car. please make sure you have the means to transport to the European mainland. also please make sure before you bid. that if you intend to road use the vehicle it can be registered in your country.

Now for the boring bits. I only sell good quality classic cars and describe the cars as accurately as I can and sell with honesty and integrity (please read my feedback) I have had on now 15! Occasions (two in the last three listings! ) individuals being the successful bidders on cars and not fulfilling the auction terms (no contact after placing the winning bid ) so wasting my time and stopping a genuine person getting the car. nbsp;

I am also sad to say had an individual who decided after winning the car thinking he could try and force me to sell the car for less intimating placing negative feedback!

I would be grateful if you could call Me on: 07970383375 or email before you bid to confirm your intentions are bona fide .

Many thanks for your understanding.

Dave.
