1969 Camaro Convertible
I have for auction my 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible. It has been in my family since 1999. My dad bought the car here in Opelika Alabama and he modified it and my parents cruised with it for about 4 years until he passed away. My mother and I have owned the car and maintained it since then. In the past few years. I have had the car at my house and my wife and I have had our first child and I have realized that I will never feel comfortable driving this car with my family. and I don't have the funds to completely restore or modify this car to its potential. I have decided to sell the car in order to finance a smaller. safer project that my son and I can enjoy together.
With that said. let's talk about what this car has and does not have.
Drivetrain:Chevy ZZ4 350 crate motor with ~35k miles on it -long tube headers -custom-bent exhaustBorg Warner T-56 manual trans ('96 Trans-Am unit) with McLeod clutch (it's rather stiff and a short throw but it holds well)Custom aluminum drive shaft to fit the new drivetrainModified transmission supportNew rear end - including 3. 73 Richmond gear set with Eaton limited slip posiNew axles replaced just after the new rear end
The oldest part of the entire drivetrain is the 1996 Trans-Am trans (besides the GM 12-bolt rear end housing)I drove this car from North Louisiana to Eastern Alabama (7 hours) and I could have kept driving as long as was necessary
Suspension:OEM suspensionBig block anti-roll barTraction barsGlobal West sub-frame connectorsGlobal West solid body mounts (1" drop)
Interior:Auto Meter Phantom white-face gauges (speedo. tach. oil. temp. volts. fuel) with pod for auxilliary gaugesCue ball shift knobRS steering wheel (not correct. but my dad liked it better than the cheap aftermarket one that was on it)Pioneer CD/Radio/AuxPioneer 200w trunk-mounted ampMemphis Audio door speakersNew heater core installed. but not blowing
Body:Stock - I do not know the extent of the body filler and paintwork in this car; we bought it in exactly this condition 18 years ago; but it's definitely not off the line with this paint. It's a great 10-foot car. and a good 5-foot car. but it does have a few bubbles in the driver's side quarter and the passenger door. and the rear deck has THE cracks in it. The gaps could use a bit of straightening by someone with some know-howThe top is OK at best. There are some holes where the mechanism pinched it. the liner is falling out. and the vinyl rear window is all but useless. It also needs a top-down boot or cover to look really sharp with the top down; we never had onePower top is not working. but I do not know the details; the hydraulics were leaking when we got it so the rams were disconnected and drained so the top could be operated manually - I don't know if the rams are still in there or if they were removed completelyBi-Xenon custom headlights; separate wire harness for these - if they aren't to your liking. they could be put back to stock sealed-beam halogens. although it's your funeral if you want to drive at night. I made these from some spare parts I had lying around. They illuminate about 100x better than the old lights. but they aren't show quality and they aren't sealed well. I tried to make them appear as un-obtrusive as possible. I would revisit these if I were keeping it.
There are a few extra parts and manuals included in the sale. including some GM handbooks. the Fisher body manual. etc. Please see this album for the extra pictures of the spare parts and manuals (and a couple more of the interior) since I went over the 24 images allowed: Imgur Album
Also added. a video walk-around of the car running here: https://youtu. be/i2IPf566mcY
Problem Items:Needs a top (factory specified tan as pictured. but I think most would agree that black would look better; I didn't want to make that choice for the next owner)Body could be lined up and rust bubbles fixedLeaky clutch master cylinder (brand new Wilwood MC included in purchase. just needs to be installed)Could use new door cards and carpet for optimum interior freshnessCould use a new instrument panel (previous owner cut holes for small gauges; could use unit designed for aftermarket gauges perhaps?)There's some sort of driveline vibration. perhaps as a result of the sub-frame connector install; they really tightened everything up and perhaps it doesn't sag in all the places it did when the engine/trans was installed
This is a driver. but with a little love. could show easily. The car is here at my home. and I can take pictures of any part of the car you need to see. I can help arrange shipping at the buyer's expense.
Please note that eBay requires a title for the vehicle. according to the notes. and I have a Louisiana title from when my mom sold the car to me. but Alabama does not require a title for a vehicle this old. so contact me before bidding if you have an issue with that situation.
