Triumph TR5

Car manufactured 50 from end of TR5 production run. Heritage Certificate with car. Literally barn discovered by last owner who recommissioned it. It had been built as his personal car by John Wood. who ran a successful Yorkshire business. Classic Racecraft. building cars and their engines for classic racing. He raced the car at various meetings during the 90's and laid the car up after business failure.  The engine and suspension modifications along with the fibreglass wings. bonnet and bootlid support this. As the engine was burning oil due to a scored cylinder when he acquired it. the last owner commissioned CAS Engineering (who carried out machining work for Classic Racecraft) in 2009. to bore and deck another block. then build it all up with new mains and big end bearings. new pistons. Kent cam and high pressure oil pump. Hardened valve inserts were installed. so no fuel additive is necessary. The whole assembly was lightened and balanced and installed along with a new clutch. Compression ratio is 12:1. Other items renewed at this time were dashboard and gauges. carpets and Rimmer Bros vinyl soft top with zip-out rear window (short tear in O/S vinyl window). Additional benefits include thermostatically-controlled oil cooler. Kenlowe fan with stat and switched override. K & N air filter and electronic ignition. The car has no rust issues-chassis. sills. floorpans. main tub all sound. Car is lowered and fitted with Spax adjustables at the front. It has a limited slip differential. Car has working overdrive and all gears select as expected. In the cabin an additional switch operates the spotlights and there is a discreet socket for SatNav/mobile phone charging. The car now has tan leather MX5 seats on TR Trader adaptor brackets for greater adjustability and comfort. The original seats with new black/white piping covers are available. Momo wooden steering wheel fitted and leather bound Momo "Jackie Stewart" wheel available. New classic seat belts with chrome buckles installed. Removeable windbeater screen fitted behind sets for comfortable hood-down driving. Original vinyl hood stowage cover with car. New stainless twin pipe exhaust system just fitted. Single. straight-though set up also comes with car (pretty noisy. hence the change. although car runs well on this). Other recent new items fitted include window regulator. ignition switch and door locks (passenger's side still to fit). Additional spares available subject to separate negotiation which include driver's door. oor glass. differential unit. half shaft. recon alternator. starter. rear light units and  many new parts such as side light repeater and various lights/lenses. Desirable literature also available. again subject to separate negotiation after vehicle sale.
