MGC GT. 1968. Manual.  

 

Genuine 110k miles (2k per year). Non-overdrive. MOT until May 2014. This MGC GT is a very reliable car that has had no expense spared in last few years. The car has been owned recently by an MG enthusiast who has driven the car regularly. including a tour of Britain. This car will require minimal costs of upkeep following a significant overhaul. Five files of history dating back to MOT in 1977 (recorded mileage then was 73k miles). If you are looking for a well-priced. solid reliable ‘C' with a cheap upkeep. then this is the car for you.

 

Over £10k has been spent in last 3 years including:

 

-          Brand new 12V Bosch battery (Oct 2013)

-          Stripped pedal box assembly. Cleaned and unseized all parts. Greased and reassembled.

-          Cleaned out float chambers and fitted with grose jets.

-          Cleaned and repaired all gutter trims. chrome mouldings. ¼ light frames. screen trims. handles etc.

-          Fitted all parts with new gaskets and fixings as required. all parts waxoyled before fitting

-          Refitted front and rear screens. 1/4 lights. door glasses & rear ¼ windows

-          Cleaned and greased and adjusted window regulators and door latch mechanisms

-          Re-trimmed upper B post and rear ¼ frame with black vinyl

-          New rear lights and connectors

-          New reverse lamp unit

-          Halogen lamp units and wiring looms all around

-          New upper & lower seats to tailgate seals

-          Dashboard stripped and sent for refinishing

-          New front and rear bumpers and overriders

-          New wiper arms and blades

-          Cleaned and painter radiator header and fitted powder coated seal holder with new seals

-          Wiring repairs for courtesy lighting

-          Waxoyled inside doors and refitted door cards and handles

-          New bonnet latches. striker pin & assembly. Front grille stripped and cleaned

-          New electric horn

-          Behind dashboard. cleaning of all switches and gauges

-          Fitted chrome heater vents

-          Fitted new dashboard with all refurbished parts

-          Rewired speakers and radio

-          Assembled new bumpers with powder coated irons and new overrider seals

-          Rewiring of number plate lights

-          Cleaned exhaust silencer and fitted rear hanger and new clamps

-          New carpets fitted

-          Cleaned and refitted rear ¼ trim cards. footwell cards. waist rail cappings and new C post trims

-          Cleaned and refitted speaker console. gear stick and gaiter. dipswitch and throttle pedal stop

-          Machine washed seat belts. shot blasted and painted brackets and loops

-          Cleaned and refitted rear seat & latches and fitted new carpet backing

-          New bonnet underfelt

-          Shot blasted and repainted seat runners

-          Cleaned off underside and seam sealed various repairs. Black undersealed full underside

-          Applied clear waxoyl to all mechanical components and additional coat of clear waxoyl to full body underside and cavities

-          Stripped. cleaned and adjusted rear brakes.

-          Made new pipe over axle and bled. Fitted new clevis pins to handbrake cable ends and return spring at lever end

-          Removed wheels and stripped off tyres. Wheels sent for powder coating

-          Fitted new front wing splash plates and seals

-          Cleaned sunroof frame and stripped sunroof for repair and retrim

-          Fitted new upper steering column bush. fitted column correctly and repaired horn contacts

-          Fitted Les Weston steering wheel with push horn from original type steering wheel

-          Repaired fuel gauge (new wire to sender)

-          Tyres refitted to refurbished wheels and fully balanced

-          Cleaned and painted boot board. hinge panel and hinges. Reprofiled and fitted with vinyl cover

-          Fitted boot carpet with new bracket and clip arrangements and new boot corner carpets

-          Fitted roof ariel and A post trims

-          Painted brake drums and front hubs

-          Fitted wheels and tyres along with new hubcaps

-          Checked and topped up gearbox and axle oil levels.

-          Changed engine oil and filter. fitted new spark plugs. contacts. condenser and rotor arm

-          Checked and adjusted ignition timing. Cleaned carb dashpots and checked and adjusted mixture

-          New roof cover and headling

-          New door mirrors

-          MOT'd (no advisories)

-          Welded repairs to front crossmember and duct panel

-          New front  and rear valance

-          Welded repairs to areas surrounding boot floor and welded in new floor panel. Welded in new axle

-          Panel work around rear ¼ light and B post

-          Welded in new sill stiffener. full castle section and outer sill

-          New aluminium bonnet assembly

-          Cut out lower section of passenger door and welded in new section. Welded repairs to OS and NS windscreen frame uprights and gutter channels

-          Cut out complete OSF floor panel and welded repairs to transmission tunnel and surrounding area. New floor panel welded in place

-          New sections for NSF and NSR floor panel welded in place

-          Cleaned up and reprofiled wheel arches. Primed and seam sealed all repairs

-          Waxoyled new fuel tank (and boot floor underside) and fitted with new seals and mountings

-          New fuel pipes. Retaped wiring loom and routed all cabling/pipes correctly with new straps as necessary

-          Adjusted brakes and fitted new handbrake cable with new clamp and compenasator

-          Mounted fuel pump and repaired wiring

-          Fitted new axle bump stop pedestals. U bolts. saddle plates and poly saddle rubbers. check straps and spring shackle polybushes

-          Fitted new anti rollbar polybushes

-          Repaired battery cables and earthing points

-          Full respray

 

I would encourage bidders to view and test drive the car to see just how well it drives. Absolutely no timewasters please. Car is being sold due to arrival of baby next month. Car advertised elsewhere. so I reserve right to remove if sold through other channels. Payment via bank transfer or cash on collection within 7 days of winning auction.
